Remembering Jed Martinez/Robcat
This morning, I was informed that an old friend from the community, Jed Martinez, better known as Robcat, has just died.
He was one of the first people I ever communicated with on this site, when I was starting out as a fur without knowing how much I'd commit to it. As I found myself being drawn to inflation and fat art, he was one of the ones who showed me there were others like me. And when I wanted to talk comics (usually cartoon animal ones with), he was there. I even remember how much he enjoyed Sudoku, and just a few weeks ago, I re read a trade paper back he got for me as a gift during a sale.
Though I do remember he had struggles with his health and money, and I suspected it had something to do with his disappearance from the internet these last four years. Was hoping I'd see him again someday, and maybe even in person, but alas I guess that won't happen.
If anything, I'll always keep the memory of him, and encourage those who never got to know him, to have a look at his work. Thus, in a way, he'll never truly be gone.
RIP Rob

I wish these comics he did in his FA gallery will inspire future artists with hope.
Over the years, we exchanged drawings, comics, and cards, I had a bad feeling about his fate after a sudden lack of communication. It is a shame that he passed away, as he was a unique and special fur who contributed much to the community and to his friends.
May he find peace and always be remembered for his kindness and enthusiasm.
I’ll miss him.
