July 19th, 2024 - Apologies, Art Progress, etc.
I'm sorry that I didn't post anything last Saturday. It broke my posting cycle a little, yes, but I actually didn't have any finished drawings to show for that week. I was also fighting a mix of burnout and a disinterest to keep moving forward as an artist. On top of that, a lot of the drawings I've worked on recently have a lot of fine details that I need to consider. Rest asured- there will be more drawings from me this coming Saturday!
As of writing this, my WIP count is now sitting at 135! This has been an extremely exhausting past eight months as I hurtle through everything that needs to be done. For those of you who don't know, it's literally everything- personal work, art owed, commissions, portfolio pieces- EVERYTHING. As an artist (and completionist), I want to hold myself accountable for the drawings that I start and I'm tackling everything at once. Everything will be finished and once I reach that milestone, I might actually just take a short break before continuing. Post-break, I will continue drawing various things, but I want to get the ball rolling on a few projects as well. More details on those for another time.
Lastly, I've been noticing that I'm still getting fav notifications of my extremely old All Tomorrows art. I genuinely appreciate the support and I'm glad that people really like that... crusty... old art... but on the other hand, it's stuff that I don't really like anymore. I still appreciate All Tomorrows and I still draw it from time to time, but it's that artist mentality of 'ugh... old art with poor anatomy, bad lighting, etc.' I'm not deleting any of them as they were pivotal to how I became a better artist, but I will be moving them to the scraps section so that I can let my newer art breathe. I just want my newer art (AT or not) to stand on their own without the older fan art looming in the background. I'm not telling people off nor am I disregarding the fandom (again I still draw AT from time to time), I'm just trying to focus on other things at this time.
Whether you discovered me through my old art or appreciate the work that I do as of late, I want to thank you for your support and understanding. It has been such a difficult (and unusual) year and I've been trying my darndest to continue uploading, showing support to my fellow artists, and to deal with real life matters simultaneously. You all keep me going and I hope to deliver more art for you in the not-so-distant future. Stay tuned for Saturday!
