I will give the useless, but timeless, advice of, "a story should only be as long as needed, not a word less or more".

In this case, what story do you want to tell? I will also put out there that you can always post something and, should the mood strike you, come back and expand it/rewrite it later on.

My issue is usually much more along the line of… I write far more than others care to read and I have to think more about cutting it back then coming back to expand later 😅

Phoenix here and I have written an RP that was a small novel in length... So, I don't know what you mean, someone will read it. XD

To provide more helpful feedback though, I think for TF story content I usually look for something shorter, a few pages, perhaps 10 or so, but not significantly more than that usually. However, for RP, with a good setting and partner, I tend to go as long as the momentum can be kept, sometimes endlessly.

I’ve never done any form of RP, myself, but I’ve certainly written a lot of stories haha

For me, I just get really invested in building up characters and the world and everything so even my “short” ideas end up easily pushing 10 pages 😅

Usually if something is truly long, I break it into multiple sections or chapters, but I’ve also seen that be very hit or miss from audience reception side, and I get wary about posting them… but I’m also somewhat often a fan of slow burn tf so it’s definitely a confusing line to walk lol

Doesn't matter how long, a TF epic is great as long as it's good.
But I like to say with that with your writing that hasnt been a worry.

I, myself keep going back to A Family of Horses, Holiday Party Complete and The Estate.

Thank you so much! Family was one of the first standalone type pieces I wrote but I still have a soft spot for it, myself, and the other two I’m definitely proud of from the aspect of weaving a set of stories all based on one premise and a connected through line of TF, respectively.

This potential new piece is sort of a combination of both those approaches, so hopefully if it’s up soon, it’ll live up to the legacy!

Glad to hear it! I also tend to lean toward longer stories, as a reader and a writer, so I’m glad I’m not the only one!

I personally love your storybuilding and willingness to explore darker themes. I would really be sad if those things got abandoned for shorter content.

Thank you! I also love playing with character and world building so I definitely prefer to keep it in, but I always fear that it may come across as too “just get on with it” from a reader’s side.

I’m also glad that the forays into sometimes darker themes is appreciated, as I try not to ever make something truly oppressive or “fucked up”, in a way, but my mind does jump to certain things especially when thinking “how would this maybe play out in the real world?”

Are you referring to the Bonding story? That one I’m afraid might be on a more permanent hiatus, as I started to feel like I ran out of ideas and just began to repeat things, which I didn’t want to do. If inspiration strikes and I have a good idea for how to finish it off, I’d certainly go back to it, though! I do love Tiger tfs overall, so even if that one doesn’t continue, there very well could be another new one, later on

Personally, I want to see how the underworld interacts with the shapeshifters next if you're open to suggestions or requests. Are some of them used as assassins? I imagine some definitely do honeypots. Have any shapeshifters founded a criminal organization? Would they do robberies? Does that cause a stigma if so... or is that carefully covered up by some government bodies?

Ooh those are definitely some interesting ideas! I feel like it wouldn't be too unreasonable to think that at least some of the shapeshifting would get used for underworld-type purposes. Enforcers for a group could also make sense for shapeshifters of bigger/stronger types, I'd think.

I can't guarantee any exact stories to come, or when exactly, but ideas like those definitely do intrigue me, so perhaps stay tuned!

I’m on chapter 38 of a slow burn TF story (about 120k words so far). I’ll be sure to let you know when I figure out the answer.

Honestly, pertaining to TF stories, I prefer long-form slowburn TF over any other type. The tf taking place over days or weeks in-story gives the characters time to react to process the event. This can be fun to further multiple themes including creeping dread in a horror-themed story, the fear that they are losing themselves to the tf. Or even slice-of-life themes in a lighter themed story, allowing the character and their loved ones learn to adapt to their change(s)
