Likely someone ahead in the line up opted out. I got in for a surgery for that. In the Pre-Op area, looking into the Surgery, I commented, "It's a bit late for second thoughts now.", the nurse replied, "Not really, we've had people get off the gurney and go."
Yep, minutes before the knife and the guy just goes "Nope."

Good that it went well for you guys, and an early time can be a relief, even if it's not an emergency.

A great favor to me since my Medicaid/medicare acceptance has been hovering between "wait and see" and "not eligible" for about 4 years now. It's the social security that's an issue.
