S.T.A.R Verse Universe Building: Andalite
a year ago
I first want to say that within this universe that the different species might have some minor differences from their canon selfs. The main things I’ll be covering in these Univere Building journals will be what is different from their canon sources and how that fits into this new Universe.
While in the Animorph books the Andalite Homeworld is just called the Homeworld I’ve decided to name their planet after the species. The Andalite’s didn’t actually have a name for the planet just calling it their Homeworld. It wasn’t until decades after leaving their planet for the first time and starting to explore the galaxy that their planet was given a name. It was a captain of an Earth vessel that first put the name forward to them, one Captain Jonathan Archer of the Enterprise.
Despite their fearsome appearance and natural deadly weapon the Andalite are a war like race. Andalite’s while not full pacifists prefer to deal with conflict through more peaceful means rather than violence, but if they see someone being oppressed or threatened and peaceful negotiations aren’t an option Andalite’s can be fearsome warriors to deal with. The Andalite’s don’t like bully’s and will stand as defence with those who need protecting. Within the Alpha and Beta quadrants they are generally known as the ‘good guys’ willing to offer aid to any who request it.
The Andalite’s are a member of the Federation of Planets. During the Dominion War though there was a lot of mistrust to any species that had the ability to change their shape (eg Changelings, Andalite’s, Skrull) whether they had been allies for years or not. The Andalite’s during this time incorporated a no morphing policy for any diplomatic missions to help ease mistrust.
The Andalite’s in this universe unlike the ones in the Animorph books actually have the biological ability to ‘morph’, instead of using technology. The rules/restrictions behind their powers are still similar to the books. They require physical contact with the organism they wish to morph into, they only have a 2 hour morph limit, they can’t morph into another organism while morphed. Unlike in the book where if they hold their morph for to long they remain stuck in that form here they just automatically revert back to their true form.
