Asking for your feedback!
Hello everybody!
I hope that you're all having a wonderful Summer and finding plenty of ways to enjoy yourselves :) I've been especially busy this season with work and some life stuff, but I've also been very thankful for the time that I've had lately to work on my personal projects.
Speaking of which, I just finished one of my major personal projects that I've been working on for about a year and a half: my own comic!
You can read the first page of it here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50210296
It's only the first part of a bigger story that I'd like to share, but it's still a satisfying 'chapter 1' for me that came out better than I expected by the end. It was a fun journey, though also took a lot more effort than I anticipated. I learned a lot from the experience! I'd honestly very much like to do more, but I'm also going to take a small break from it to work on commissions and other projects, one of which being a novel that I've had in the oven for far too long.
I'll gladly talk more about the things I've learned and the things that I want to improve on later, but, for now, what I would really like is to hear from you!
For anybody who's willing, I'd really love to get your feedback on some things:
1) What did you think about Rick's comic? (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50210296 ) Did you enjoy it? Dislike it? And why?
2) On the subject of the comic, do you have any suggestions for things that I could improve on or do more of? What would help you to enjoy it more?
3) I definitely plan to do more comics in the future! Is there a character or concept that you would really like to see from me?
4) Do you have any characters or things in general that you'd like to see more of from me and my art?
5) OPTIONAL: Do you have any good tutorials or online art resources that you'd like to recommend? It's always good to keep improving!
That should do it for now :) Don't be shy! If you'd rather, you can send me a note with these answers instead of posting to this journal, but I would still love to hear your feedback either way! Yes, even you in the back!
Take care, everybody, and have a wonderful rest of the Summer!

1. Your comic is awesome. I like how Rick never stops fighting.
2. I canโt think of anything.
3. For your next comic you should have Anne Felding as the star. I would like to see her having an adventure or doing something fun.
4. I would like to see more of Violette and her finding more furries to tickle.
5. Iโm not certain what tutorials online, but maybe making the artwork look like the Don Bluth art style. I hope this was what you meant in the question.
Hope these help.
I also don't see enough action-based stuff on this level of content creation.
This is definitely a "me" desire, but one or two pages giving exposition of the world and the important parts of it. It may not be much, but I'd love a reference point to go back to so I don't find myself asking questions like "is this just the human world with furries/fursons?" when there could be important facets I'm missing.
Frankly, as far as characters go, I don't have a big encyclopaedic knowledge of your characters (besides Jael but he's had plenty of content), so in all honesty, you could pull a random character from your pantheon and focus on them, and I'd be interested all the same.
1ยฐ/ I truly enjoy everything related to the universe of "Forever Flight". I said it several time in the past and I repeat it here: you are extremely gifted when it comes to tell stories focusing on character interactions. I addition, the general social background take a major place in this universe without being the main subject: the story always remain at the scale of the character without wandering from it.
2ยฐ/ I don't know what to say actually. I prefer you to tell us on which point you are not satisfied. The comic is easy to read and I don't believe that I could formulate any relevant criticism, especially on the "fight": drawing series of actions is something I never tried to do and I have some admiration for the artists who are able to master it*.
3ยฐ/ I don't know... Some characters like Alex are clearly attracting my attention. Yet, I am afraid of suggesting stuffs. The way you keep some major characters in shadow is very elegant and clever (I don't remember if you have ever drown BH and Rick parents for example). A concept that has really my attention was the underground Keeton City: I have always been fascinated by the dichotomy between the notion of "upper city" and "lower city" like in Fritz Lang Metropolis or Paul Grimault The King and the Mockingbird... and more generally by the interactions between the different levels of these megalopolis.
4ยฐ/ I should confess that I truly enjoy your most "cruel" pictures (cf. Inktober 2023 #8 ๐ฆ). There is always some kind of subtlety and unsaid thing that make them really powerful. More generally, the way you succeed to convey contradictory feelings in some of your comics is outstanding: What Keeps Us Warm is a perfect example of what I envy in your art.
5ยฐ/ Well, you may have already read it, yet Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud is a Holy Bible! Personally, I consider it as one of the best book on semiology of graphics (by the way, one of my colleague is using McCloud's works as reference for her PdD thesis on dataviz). Another source that could be very interesting yet, unfortunately, it is in French: the lessons given by Benoรฎt Peeters in the Collรจge de France in 2022/2023 as mentioned in this article from Lancaster's University.
I have more remarks in minds, yet it would bee too long to develop them here...
*- Two comics are coming on my mid right now concerning the art of drawing actions :
1- Michel Plessix - Wind in the willows (tome 4 - Panic at Toad Hall) - the final battle scene.
2- Vivรจs, Sanlaville, Balack - Lastman - all the fight and action scene are perfectly fluent.
As for ideas, comic and art wise, I still would love to see (with proper permission and respect of course) cameos from Kyle Dragon and his characters. Still would love to see characters yet seen such as Erica Dragon, Magi Petroff, Karla, Alex the Detective Panther, Zerc the Dragon Merc, Shionne the Snow Leopard Ninja, the 4 Ancient Dragons, etc. Plus, it'd be interesting to see epilogue pics of Kyle and Liz on their honeymoon, Kyle and Erica making amends, Liz and Erica doing some sisterly bonding, Phillip either licking his wounds from defeat or seeing the error of his ways and making amends, Timmy and Susan on a date, etc.
I understand if you can't. โ๐ค๐๐
2) Maybe a tiny bit more exposition? Iโd love to learn more about your characters.
3) You know me, Iโm gonna say Iโd really like to see a tickle comic of Cham getting the tickles.
4) Again, Cham getting the tickles. He never gets enough of it. XD
2. My only suggestions are more shot angles and/or longer pages in general. Been in the boxing ring for a minute. So I'd say if an area lasts long enough, to just make the page itself longer
3. Honestly no clue.
4. Also no clue. Whatever you're interested in making in the future I'll look into anyway.
2) Make the story unpredictable. It never fails.
3) Comics about your other OCs can be cool, they can expand the lore and make us know more about them.
4) The continuation of Shattered Innocence, too tragic to be left on hiatus and everybody loves a good revenge story.
5) There are plenty of books and tutorials out there in bookshops and the internet. When you search, you find.
