No, FA is not shutting down

I've now had 3 separate furs tell me to back everything up after Dragoneers passing. So very quickly:
YESyou should have backups of everything.
NO, FurAffinity is not shutting down. That's not how anything works. It would be like saying Berkshire Hathaway is shutting down because Warren Buffet died, or Microsoft is closing because Bill Gates passed away. No. Just... No.
FurAffinity is the ~720th most visited website in the US, and ~2100 globally.There's gonna be a line of contingency to make sure things run smoothly.
I am not on the team anymore, but having been a mod I can tell you there's other people running the site. It was not just Dragoneer.
You should have regular backups of all your art and, if you want, journals and such too. But don't start a panic and begin fleeing here. Neer definitely wouldn't have wanted that.
I have stuck with FA throughout the rise of other platforms and the fall of Twitter in particular because it's just the perfect site to me. It's not flashy or extra fancy, meaning it loads fast! It's a gallery site, meaning you actually stop to enjoy the works of art, versus Instagram which users famously have a 1 second attention span, meaning hours of work on a piece gets trashed in the attention economy. Fa is independent, and it functions pretty good given it's technical debt. If nothing else, furaffinity is an Archive of my sonas that has outlasted many other places BECAUSE OF THE TEAM. IT WAS NOT JUST DRAGONEER. He was a very important person here but the site is not gonna crash and burn without him.
Above all else, FA has had stability. Twitter died and Fa survived. Instagram is basically just AI spam now, and FA bans ai slop outright.
No run on the bank today. He didn't work so hard on this place just for you to abandon it. The site is fine, and I know he was working every day to improve it.

The idea Fa would shut down because the owner passed away suddenly is silly on its face, but I've been insulted that people started downloading their galleries and saying "FIND ME HERE JUST IN CASE!!!!"
I just don't know why some furs are like this. They get a stupid, dead-wrong idea in their heads, their egos decide it's gospel, and then their adhd makes them forget about it hours later. And if you bring it up at any point, you're a nazi.
The only benefit of the doubt I'll give is neer was public and a lot of the staff aren't very visible, but given how asshole-ish some furries get over literally nothing, I don't blame them. But without a more visible staff, maybe that's why the people who don't think things through panicked like they did.
