By now most of us know of the passing of Dragoneer, the owner of FurAffinity, at the young age of 44. My heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones and friends during this difficult time.
His death made me think back to those early years when I was just starting out as an artist in the furry fandom. I had tried sharing my work online, but it was bits and pieces here and there. A few on a forum here, a couple of stories on Yiffstar (later SoFurry) and a number on Playmouse. I even had my own gallery on Furnation, briefly.
But then in 2005 I stumbled upon FurAffinity. My profile says I began in December 2005, but I had an account on FA earlier in the year. I can't remember what went wrong that made my first account go poof! But one new account later, I started posting regularly. Since then, FA has been my home page on the World Wide Series of InterTubes despite all the drama, missteps and mistakes. I have grown my art and met many wonderful people via FA. And while I have spread out to other platforms like DeviantArt, Bluesky, Twitter (I hate calling it X), Weazyl and SoFurry, each day I would come and check out my FA to see what is up.
What a journey it has been the past 19 years on FA. I don't know what the future holds now that Dragoneer is gone, but this site is his legacy to the fandom.

It's a huge loss, but the community will never forget the efforts that went into the site he owned.
Furaffinity had been a good home for me to upload my art since 2018 and I'd would leave Deviantart in 2021 after their release of that Garbage Deviantart Eclipse in 2020, Furaffnity became the place for me to feel better to upload my art here where it doesn't make things so hard.
I may have only been on this platform as a moderate since late May of 2016, and haven't really been connecting with others until recent years. But this platform has been the better location for me to view others' artworks, which I did before setting up my first account (which is this one). While also considering to post my own artwork in story writing. And I've decided to do so some time ago on a new account here, after I finish more of the starting entries to my Story Series.
I also wanted to use this site for prayers within the sociable areas on here. I'm going to have a part of my User Profile on the new account stating this. I've already been doing so for others as it is, just by reading Journal entries from others, whether they were for themselves or others. I'll most definitely be praying for the family and friends in this difficult time. And for the future of this Site, and those who use it. There has to be a new Owner for this site, or the Admin will take ownership. But taking ownership of it will be trialing for either of them. Especially with the events that have caused the need for this change in ownership.
Rest in Peace, Dragoneer.
