Taking Stock & Holiday

Receiving Transmission...
It's been a while since my last journal posting, so I figured I'd give you mense (folks) an update on how I've been evaluating my current commission system and what's going to happen next.
So this year I tried something different with how I accept commissions. In the past I would open slots, fill them up and then reopen commissions only when the current list was completed. This time, I was making slots available as I completed current commissions. I also resumed taking comic commissions after a year-long hiatus. So after more than 6 months, I took stock of the new system and learned a few things:
1. The system works well for me, and also doesn't keep people waiting too long to get a spot on my queue. So I'm certainly considering keeping this system for the foreseeable future.
2. Separate FA and DA queues: While FurAffinity is my primary business platform, I've also taken commissions from my secondary account on DeviantArt and I had separate queues for both of them. At first it was manageable because in the past I didn't get many commissions from DA as on FA, but recently demand for commissions shot up on DA. So it resulted in delays on my primary queue on FA and probably made folks wonder why I wasn't opening slots on FA when I posted DA commissions.
I'll have to think about combining the two queues into a universal queue, both to keep track of everything and prevent confusion. Plus, it might open up options for FA commissioners who might prefer to pay me via DA's point system. I'll work more on this.
3. Stories: The demand for stories in the past wasn't much, but this year I've gotten a lot of requests to write commissions. Now, I enjoy spinning a good yarn, but stories are much more time-consuming than just pictures are. So I might need to do like I do with the comics: place a limit on the number of story commissions I can take and make a separate queue for them too. I'll also have to reconsider the pricing structure for the stories in future (but don't worry, I'm not going to change them immediately and not without due warning).
That's it for commissions right now. Hopefully I can improve on it and ensure it works better and fairer for both me and my clients.
Finally, I want to let you all know that I'll going on holiday in September. Its been a rough winter and very taxing on my mental health (long story and rather personal too), so I'm looking forward to getting away from all the craziness to rest and relax. So I won't be able to do any work until I return around the 15th, but once I do I'll be up and running to get those commissions done!
And that's it. Thanks for reading my wall of text. ;)

I wish I could take a vacation right now. Or in the near future. I hope you get plenty of rest and recovery on your holiday. We'll be waiting for your return.
