Very saddening to hear he died, maddening to know our horrid healthcare system is partially to blame.

I used to think such rituals were silly, i no longer do.

imo rituals are just the aestheti-cization of weird physical/emotional reactions that us confused apes do. i think they are just fine and even comforting at times

Totally. You don't even have to believe in magic or the super natural for them to help. " I did something to acknowledge my sadness instead of nothing." is all it takes.
