Disney's "Princess and the Frog"
Saw Disney's "Princess and the Frog" and it was nice to see a return to hand drawn animation, particularly since it fits this style of story so well. All the extreme squash and stretch that they can easily do with hand drawn animation just works with how they chose to tell this particular story. The songs are fairly good though none seem to be very memorable, at least not for me. Overall, I'd say it's a good movie, but not a blockbuster or even a must-see movie. Very nice visually and fun to watch so I'd put it in the "worth seeing" category. It will be interesting to see what Disney does next with traditional animation now, and also which other studios will try diving back in to 2D animation now that Disney has shown it can still be successful.
And the big movie for this coming weekend is of course "Avatar", James Cameron's $300+ million extravaganza. I plan to see it Monday night and we'll see if it's worth all the money they spent on it.
