With Regard to Dragoneer...
It's taken a few days to collect our thoughts on the loss of our community head, Dragoneer.
The loss of a person is a complex process. We have known Dragoneer personally since joining the IRC channel on FurNet well over 15 years ago and being an operator on the IRC staff. Dragoneer allowing us to start advertising on FA offering commissions back in 2009 aided in creating the career we have today. There are no words to properly express how great a loss it is to the community he put his heart into keeping alive and well. Or how grateful we are that he put these efforts into allowing artists like ourselves and thousands of others to make their living doing what they love. To allow the users who come together with the appreciation of the art and expression of the furry community to have such a wonderful place to gather for so many amazing years.
Rest in peace, Dragoneer. Thank you for all you've done for us and the furry community.

Dragoneer is easily the most complicated parasocial relationship I've ever had with another furry, because usually, I know them, or I don't. With 'Neer, a parasocial relationship was unavoidable. I'm not going to sit here and pretend I always liked things he said and did. But if not for him, I wouldn't have met some of the friends I have now, or some of the ones who I'm still memorializing to this day. I don't know about you, but I'm going to work my ass off to give him some kind of tribute, something for the ones really grieving. You and I, we're really not, are we? So I can't help but feeling like even his friends are owed something in a way, the ones who loved (and will miss) him the most. He totally deserves to become some kind of a legend, same way I feel about so many of my friends.

If it weren't for Dragoneer, we may not have a career. We didn't always see eye to eye either, but he did an incredible amount of work making the community what it is. Giving people a place to go and bringing folks together keeping this site alive. That is an amazing thing. And we are really grateful for that. It would be wonderful to see his legacy continue and for the community to come together tighter and stronger in the wake of his unfortunate loss to remain thriving.
