I consider myself a bit of an NES veteran. At the very least, I've been playing the console on and off for most of my life, and I've beaten some of the games that are considered the toughest. That said though, I've recently been giving expert mode in Metal Storm a try, and holy shit the perfection it demands of the player is insane. And I'm only on the second level, where I've probably died a good hundred times already. Does anybody else know what I'm talking about?
Fortunately, Metal Storm isn't too agonizingly difficult when playing through it normally. It can be tough, mostly because of one-hit kills, but it's reasonable so long as you remember what's coming, and think before you leap. But then the expert mode you can access after beating the game on normal definitely cranks up that dial. It's actually my only Irem game.
