I don't just mean with regard to storytelling, but with the characters as well. Some characters have backstories that have yet to be revealed. Some characters have personality traits that are questionable, for one reason or another. And there are some people that have relationships that are undefined. I don't think the reader always knows exactly what's going on and that there is a bit of mystery that entices them to continue with the story.
In the interim, it leaves the unanswered questions up to interpretation and speculation. It's always interesting to see the rabbit holes that people dive into, as well as the theories and speculations that people come up with.
