Hey everyone!
It's about time for another update on stuff. Ho boy there's just been a wee bit going on!!!
I have started the process of buying my very first house ;w;
I am thrilled with this, though as we all know this process comes with a lot to do and is pretty darn stressful!
The house is a fixer-upper and I've had to get some additional surveys done which in itself is fine, except the surveyor that had my work contracted out to them turned out to be a fucking melt and I had to request it was reassigned. He was an arrogant pos and had two opportunities to show up and do the work but instead he caused problems. Seems this company has a monopoly on the specialist surveyors in my area though so I've had to go with them and so far the second surveyor hasn't seemed like a total ass so we'll see!
Speaking of total asses however, omg are solicitors a bunch xDDD
Considering these people are fucking paid professionals, I cannot believe their lack of attention to detail. From misspelling my name multiple times, failing to actually get my mortgage offer from their portal, using the wrong details in forms, missing the fact the seller has said there was an extension which wasn't noted on building control among several other fuck ups, I've felt like I have booked a table at a restaurant then had to go tell the chefs how to fucking cook. This is a 5 star rated solicitors! Over 500 reviews!! The fuck?! How is it I've managed to get such a poor service I don't knowwwwwwww hahahah!! What I do know is when I wrote in an email of my concerns with 4 questions outstanding I literally received a 4 line email back with my name misspelled and a "We've asked questions" and that was IT.
Pray for me lmfao.
Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of time to swap solicitors - my landlord is selling up and so has provided me and my partner an eviction notice because he wants it sold without tenants 8D;;;
The eviction date is the end of this month, though I know I can stay past that and make them go through courts etc, but aaAAAAAAAAAAA.
The property I am buying (subject to this last survey omg) is at least chain free and the whole freaking plan was to complete by the 26th, so my partner and I can move from the rental to our property. The solicitors have known this and given the deadline to the seller's solicitors but that seems to be about as proactive as they've been. I started the process at the start of August and so there were multiple assurances the times are fine but now we may be between homes for a while. I've asked my landlord if he'd do a rolling weekly extension until the purchase completes but otherwise it will be a move to my dad's.
Speaking of my dad, whilst this has been going on, I moved to my dad's for a few weeks last month to help look after him while my step mum was visiting family abroad.
He is on palliative chemotherapy and it's been incredibly tough on him. The pain management was totally wrong for him and I can't lie, it is very difficult seeing him like it. I think it's been brought under control with a morphine prescription. It is hard being unable to directly affect a change for him, and all I could do was cook, clean, get him to appointments and walk the dog so he could try and sleep as much as possible.
He was definitely better at the end of my stay than when I arrived. He'd been stubborn and insisted he could do it all on his own while his wife was gone, but the reality is he needs the help which is a very difficult message for him.
The day my stepmum returned home was coincidentally the day I travelled to MADRID of all places for a wedding of my partner's best friend.
The timings went like this:
Leave dad's at 12.30pm to go pack and get adapters from town.
Return to dad's with partner to cook everyone dinner.
Walk the dog.
Clean up
Get to partner's mum's house for 9.30pm and straight to bed
Up at 2.30am to fly 8D;;;
6am flight. 9am onwards in Madrid to meet wedding guests, do a big meal, get to the hotel in the mountains, get changed, pre wedding party.
We excused ourselves at 10.30pm so essentially a 19 hour day lmfao
Fuck me was I knackered.
The wedding was stunning, the weather was delightful and it was a cool break from the norm. We arrived back home last Monday.
It had been what, since 2019 since I last went abroad? With covid inbetween it has felt like a lifetime lmfao. I can't wait to go abroad for a proper holiday again!!
So yes.
During all of this bar the trip to Spain, I was also working full time.
Work at least has been going great, but I've got a gigantic project that initiated this month, and I have to prepare a lot of work plans and documentation before November. Considering I am going to be moving at least once during this time, I feel like I am on the shore with a surfboard, watching another huge wave building that I'll have to navigate.
The fun continues to fun!!!
I am working on art in the background as always, though I totally only realised this morning it's October which means inktober and I'm a little gutted I can't participate!
Not that you really got to see the bits I did over previous years XD BUT I DO DO IT! I just am really shite at uploading things 8D
I know I can grab a small book and just do little things but honestly, I probably could do without the extra pressure. No reason why I can't just choose another random month to draw something in every day.
Gosh this journal has ended up massive.
Ultimately the TLDR:
Buying a house
Being evicted
Not sure how long I will be between homes??
Dad's health is somewhat stable now after getting pain relief
Small trip to Madrid
Big work events
I am still working on art I swear lmfao
Enough about me. HOW ARE ALL OF YOU?? How many of you read all the way through this mess? XD
I do miss chatting away with people here. I value this little community so much ;w; I want to do some freebies or something in the future to celebrate our little space but lemme get the above sorted first eh?!
