True. Felt like they had a mix of cat and dog traits.

Dogs are everywhere, dogs easy to get and train, so studios often scan them for motion tracking data.

Also: we should clean our own lawn first. Most furry artists draw every species like a dog. ;3

It truly irks me how the horse "Maxamillion" (sp?) from the animated movie 'Tangled,' acts so much like a Doggo. LOVE that character, muchlies (Puts me in mind of the 'Companions' from a whole different Fantasy Universe), but when he plants his nose into the ground, 'Sniffing' and then does the hindleg scratch/tail wag as he's being fawned over just rips me out of what could've been a species-correct-behavior moment.

Folks often take the 'Easy' route, and it usually ends badly.

I'll make an exception for 'Toothless' a Dragon, who's antics perfectly mirror a felines, because that's what his Animator(s) knew best. They made it work, and since he's a fantasy creature, allowances can be made.

I'm with ya though. When I see invented species, what 'I' am really looking for is UNIQUE characteristics/antics.
