Election Day Prep
Went to the site that I'll be handling (a senior center in Mesquite, Texas) and talked with the staff. Explained the crowd sizes that I anticipated based on the last presidential elections I worked. Talked with them about when I could set up and how much of the rec area (which we use) I wanted to cordon off for the expected lines and about how I intended to arrange clear access to quick exit points if they are needed.
Talked with them briefly about safety measures and decided I would give them the Marshal's number to call IF there should be an altercation that I'm trying to de-escalate and I can't be on the phone while handling whoever it is.
I'll set up Monday. Haven't heard from any clerks, but I know I'll at least have my daughter there as a clerk.
I will be SO glad when this election is over.

Mistakes are one thing, and recounts in such situations are, of course, completely valid, but neither of those things have anything to do with what Mel is doing at her polling place unless you suspect someone there of putting their thumb on the scale.
Overall, there are almost zero instances of anything like that happening in the US recently. The 2020 election, for instance, was proven to be one of our most highly scrutinized and accurate counts ever.
I suspected that you were an election denier from your first post.
The evidence is overwhelming on that. It had nothing to do with the lawyers on either side, just the facts.
Please show me some proof, or even some credible evidence, to support your contentions here. I've looked pretty deeply into this, and I've found zip to support what you're saying.
That whole narrative is just BS. Please prove me wrong.
Seriously, go ahead and show it, if you do. I dare you. What have you got to lose?
Could it possibly be because there isn't any? Once again, I'd love to see it if it should exist.
I clearly said I'd welcome any actual proof or evidence. I would evaluate it with an open mind, as I do everything.
Who's really denying things that don't support their opinion here? -Put up or shut up.
Go ahead and refute a single thing here with facts, please.
It's also worth noting here that provisional ballots commonly go uncounted, and that Brad Raffensperger is a notorious supporter of voter purges.
It's a shame that Trump's lawyers didn't have the amazing evidence that you seem to possess. It would have made all the difference in their cases, which they were completely unable to support.
;-P
Some of these States traitorously violated THEIR OWN STATE CONSTITUTION(s).
That so much happened, is known/proven to have happened, yet not a single person responsible for any of it, is precisely why the thinking % of the American People have zero trust in (This, esp.) Govt., their Courts, or any of their cutely named/titled alphabet soup agencies of Law Enfarcement (Something I'm frankly getting tired of typing, but the truth is the truth, so my fingers will just have to endure it.).
Now, you/others can deny it happened. Fine by me.
I/Millions of others, know otherwise.
This is going to rebound, and those currently cackling/giggling/chortling are going to choke to death on their deeds.
That's how the world works. Liars, cheaters, traitors will pay. Eventually.
Millions of people believing the lies of Drumpf and his gang are proof of nothing but that they're gullible and don't rely on provable facts.
Every single one of the 62 Drumpf supported lawsuits about that election were thrown out due to a lack of credible evidence, many, if not most of them by Republican, and even Drumpf appointed judges. Do you really think that those people were all part of some great leftist conspiracy?
I can hand over a library-sized collection of gathered data.
YOU can hand over a library-sized collection of gathered data.
Not one bit of it has ever proven either of our arguments/perspectives/claims to the other, with any degree of satisfaction.
Agreed?
Now, just sit-back, and consider this and please do so with utmost care:
Information. What is its value, if we cannot trust it?
That should concern/scare the ever-luvin'-HELL out of all of us, and I don't care what side of any argument/perspective you might have.
That's where 'I' am, this very second.
Trust.
We no longer have it.
Why do you suppose that in all of the many conversations that I've had on this very topic that absolutely no one has ever even tried to present a single piece of that proof or evidence? If it actually exists, why not? It should be easy! Do you really have anything to lose? -Seriously, please do! Throw down!
This is NOT about my personal bias. That's just a copout. It's about facts.
There are no "Alternative truths" about this. There's only one truth.
...So, no, I don't agree.
The facts and truth are out there, and quite easy to find. All you have to do is actually look them up.
I'll give you, and anyone else, whether they agree with you or me on this, a really good hint: There's a thing called media literacy, or critical media literacy. It's an invaluable tool to help us determine truth from lies, disinformation, misinformation, and propaganda. It should be taught to kids starting by, say, middle school age, and anyone who doesn't know about it yet owes it to themselves to study it.
It helps anyone to regard any source critically. Sure, it takes more work, but the truth is its own reward.
Frankly, I'm rather surprised that you believe that overwhelmingly disproven garbage.
I could.
In this, you and I agree (I think), wholeheartedly- It is remarkably simple and easy, and all it demands is for the person seeking it to pursue what's out there. Yes, due diligence must be respected, but that's not going to stop you/anyone from actually finding the truth.
That simply demands the focus and ability to accept the facts/truth.
I've been here at FA for some years. While I did not copy/save the hundreds of pages of conversations that once existed on the Forum, I haven't totally forgotten all of them either.
Just here, on people's individual Journals/Posts, I've seen and engaged in many of these conversations, some of them with you, directly.
I HAVE seen you totally ignore facts presented. Not DISPROVE them, merely denying and dismissing them because they did not fit your perspective.
You're not aware of this? Hell, I've got a few on my own Journal, and I simply sat here reading the comments and NOT getting involved, just to see where and how things unfolded.
Not saying I haven't made the same mistake(s). I have very strong feelings about many things, and it's very easy to get jaded/blinded, but if you're going to be honest, you'd best set the ego on the shelf and learn, and THEN go forth and survive as wiser Being.
Don't try to stick me into any particular box Hon. You'll fail, every time. I am a free thinking creature with a WIDE canvas of Belief/Ideals. I can literally go as far 'Left,' and then 'Right' about some things, but I usually find treading closer to the 'Middle' a far more sane/wise trail.
For some things. Others are 'Absolutes' to me (Our 2A in particular, which you already know about).
I listen/watch/reflect and judge ALL sides, to the best of my ability. I see 'Garbage' being produced, shoveled and spread by all 'Sides.'
I'm sick of this sh*t. The instant any society starts coddling/promoting/funding/protecting lies and falsehoods, is the instant that society is doomed.
I feel far too much of America is on that Path, this very second, and the amount of damage already done is going to be generational before it is sutured/healed, yet the scars will remain...
Nice chatting with you.
Best course of action I can take now is to simply agree to disagree, 'cause I'm in no mood for an argument with you/anyone atm.
(Now, let my tummy heal, and get past this 'Silly Season' months? Let's see how 2025 begins an' maybe we can spar?)
Not all of us are passively observing what's going on, sitting on our hands and doing nothing/ignoring it.
But the number one thing I miss about in person voting were the bake sales happening at the same location.
Which state are you in? I'm in California and we can choose between many options to file our ballots.
I don't think I've ever encountered any bake sales here. : (

I consider you a friend, and a disagreement would never change that. I hope to learn from everyone. no matter their opinion. I welcome people disagreeing with me, and I'll always welcome your opinion.
I'm just stating a plain fact here, and my opinion is shared by many. We're truly worried about this, because there's a very real chance of it happening.
well we do both agree that the situation is totally explosive as seen from both sides... let's just hope sanity returns to the entire world - not that it was ever there in the first place.

We hit a record of 1959 back on Tuesday. My dogs aren't barking any more; they just whimper.
I'm also planning on baking an Election Cake, because why not.
I consider this a good thing hailing from a LOT of bad things, and can only hope by default, will result in good thing happening to fix stuff.
(That's the eternal Optimist in me. I feel I need to murder it again, but have learned it just reincarnates!)
What can we trust?
My answer: Not a g-damned thing I personally haven't seen, heard, felt/experienced. At least, for the vast majority of stuff being plastered across the monitor.
No one of us can be 'Everywhere,' so where does that leave us as individuals.
Diabolical, in all respects.
"It is good to be skeptical... But be smart about it." I was taught. Funny enough, if I provide proof and evidence, unless it aligns with the flawed perspectives on some peoples' worldviews... They will call reality 'misinformation'...
I've noticed many people are accusers of their own sins as well... So keep that in mind...
Good luck on your work. Don't let the intimidation jocks get you down. And don't let bullshit in. No political adverts on the premises, regardless of the side, that includes hats, shirts, and signs... But also be safe... At least two reported instances of poll workers have been assaulted by Trumpers for asking them to remove their adverts... They did let them vote... But that kind of violent reaction makes me worry about people like you who are doing a justice from the bottom of your heart.
