I'm sure folks (especially non-US folks) are tired of hearing people whine about it, but I'm going to ramble for a sec because it's therapeutic.
I originally wrote more, but I don't feel like it's very useful or interesting to share a detailed report of my opinions and current emotional state. I don't really feel like I have a right to complain. I live in a blue state, in one of the most progressive cities in the country, am white, not visibly transgender, and am in an extremely stable living situation, so I know my personal safety is not compromised. But I know that that's very much not the case for a lot of people. I wish I could be more useful. I'm scared for the state of the country, for my friends, and just, in general, affected by the overwhelming aura of despair that is impossible to avoid right now. I feel like i don't deserve to be scared at all, and i also feel terrible for not feeling more scared. It's hard for me to assess my emotions right now. All in all I'm just feeling tired and... weird. I'm less focused, more irritable than usual, and it's harder to get up in the morning. But I guess I'm okay. I'm doing better than many.
Anyway, I believe that negativity by itself does more harm than good, so here's my silver lining for you:
It's only 4 years, and he will never be able to run again. Maybe another horrible whack-job will try to walk in his shoes, but they won't have accrued the same cult following that Trump did, so their chances of getting elected are much more slim.
Be there for your loved ones, and your communities. They need you right now. There will always be good in humanity if you are willing to be the good.
Stay up to date on and participate in your local elections. These are things that will have a more direct impact on you, and that likewise you can have a more direct impact on.
The best way to keep bad actors on their toes is to survive, and to never stop doing your part to fight back. If you give up, they win.

It's the least I could do but I spent a lot of time listening, consoling and in general talking to my friends that live over there, and they've been really thankful for me to have taken the time out to be there for them.
Like you I also feel like I don't deserve to be scared but I couldn't just be idle like "I'm alright jack" so I did what I could, and I'm extremely thankful that I managed to have some kind of positive impact on other people by just being supportive <3
