Bluesky spam continues
The bluesky spam is still going on a year after I made my last journal complaining about it.
So lemme just.. rant for a bit because I'm so fucking sick of every second journal being about it.
The points of then still stand - just put it in your profile, ffs, did you make a journal for creating a discord user?
but I think I should really say.. Do all of you realize that you're basically (potentially) giving your art to AI? Did any of you bother to read the TOS?
Sure, they claim they don't own the rights, but at the same time, they grant themselves way too far reaching rights.
From the TOS, section 2D:
"you grant us permission to: Use User Content to develop, provide, and improve Bluesky Social, the AT Protocol, and any of our future offerings.
[...]
Grant others the right to take the actions above."
What do you think might be meant by "any future offerings"? It may be AI, it may not be, sure, but it leaves the door wide open. As does the "grant others the same rights". Sure, they use moderation tools as an example, but "others" can be anything. And personally, I'm not that trusty of corpos.
The same wishywashy language is in the rest of the TOS. If you delete your account, we will do our best to actually delete it, pinky swear, but we might not actually do it.
I confess this journal is mostly because I'm so sick of the constant bluesky spam. Just put it in your profile ffs.

Most artist have to promote their stuff in some places to get engagement and income. So you probably go to the sites with your core audience and promote your account.
Im not a fan of any social media site. But i dont know if bluesky is any better or worse then discord, x or instagram or whatever the next trending thing is. Im guessing that a lot of furries and bronies are on that site.
To be honest I just looked for an excuse to complain about the spam XD
But at least, say, twitter is better. Not by that much, they still grant themselves the rights to sublicense, but:
"you grant us [...] license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute such Content in any and all media or
distribution methods (now known or later developed)."
They make it clear with their future uses that this is just for media/distribution. AI training clearly doesn't fall inside that. That's clearly more tight than what bluesky has.
The amount of ragging on AI I saw is even greater than the amount of bluesky journals, so you'd think that would actually matter :D
Not that I'm a fan of twitter. I prefer gallery sites like FA, I never really got how anyone would watch an artist on such a site
