Please and thank you.
I've heard a fair bit of the movie, that it's good and all. I want to question the basic plot. Not that this is biased in any direction, but is merely a self-attained point-of-view to it. Keep your flames to a minimum, and think this through.
I believe Avatar and Disney's Atlantis have VERY similar base plots, and I'm here to prove it.
So, according to my sister, this is the basic plot of Avatar.
So. This is my interpretation of Atlantis' base plot.
Don't they seem to be rather similar? We can't call it exact, sure, but they have a same basic plot.
Tell me what you think.
I believe Avatar and Disney's Atlantis have VERY similar base plots, and I'm here to prove it.
So, according to my sister, this is the basic plot of Avatar.
1. Humans find rare material more expensive than gold on planet named Pandora.
2. Humans venture to Pandora and find they'd have to kill off the local blue elf-wanna-be's to find said material.
3. Older brother of male main character is studying on how to hide within the tribe's society and be a spy. He dies, and they need someone with similar genes. They toss him into it with little info.
4. He continues spying on them and earns their trust.
5. He informs the humans of one of the main living places for them. Humans take it down. Tribe figures out he did it.
6. He re-earns their trust by capturing a flying creature and gathers all the tribes together to fight the humans.
7. Male main character, with the aid of the tribes, defeats the humans and lives on Pandora for the rest of his life.So. This is my interpretation of Atlantis' base plot.
1. Main character has studied for who remembers how long about Atlantis' riches and lore, and finds a possible route to Atlantis.
2. He hires a crew and begins the expedition to the city, leading to successfully finding Atlantis and finding riches are confirmed, and must ransack the place to find them.
3. Main character gets to know main character 2 and learn more about Atlantis.
4. Main character begins to love Atlantis and fight with the inhabitants against his crew, driving them back.
5. Main character lives in Atlantis from there on.Don't they seem to be rather similar? We can't call it exact, sure, but they have a same basic plot.
Tell me what you think.
FA+

But you also have to remember that Avatar has been in the workings for....14 years I think it was o.o
But to spent 14 years and 500 million dollars to make a movie as the same base plot of a Disney movie...
.. Nice idea, but he struggled way too damn hard to make it.
Not to mention the first idea ever had to be original.
I suppose there are still some original ideas.
I didn't see District 9, but I think it's original..
Whatever. Far as I'm concerned, having a completely original idea is awesome.
HOWEVER.
Execution of the item, whether it be movie, game, ect. THAT's what really matters to me.
'Cause if it's original, but it sucks like shit, it's not worth it.
