Lore World as a trpg?
Hihi everyone,
So as I progress more with my lore world, I'm reaching closer and closer to the goal of utilizing it for different things... for example being able to use it as a tabletop rpg, etc. Most of my characters are canon to the world, its a sort of teebiverse haha. Since my gallery is mostly villains, it makes the perfect framework of assembling a group of heros to stop them or even possibly help them who knows :3 ! The goal would be to keep this world significantly sfw as much as possible, so keep this in mind !
Though as is, I will be getting a lot less personal art to prioritize the refinement of the species, maps, locations. If anyone wants to join in or is interested in sharing in some of those pieces let me know! I plan to start working on it more once my phd is over in summer 2026, but until then I am happy to accept help from those who are interested.
Things I would be looking for, with absolutely no pressure, this is a voluntary thing:
Adding characters to the world (art or writing)
Exploring and enriching different regions https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45452691/ (art or writing)
Concepting quirks and backgrounds for the different species (art or writing)
Commissioning conceptual art of some of those said locations and characters (art)
Figuring out what model of trpg would work best for this kind of world (help me gamemasters I am stoopid)
Adding stories and storylines that would fit in the world, and around the conflicts that currently exist (writing)
If any of those sound interesting, please let me know. I am happy to help assist or give you some context since the world lore is a bit all over the place right now. currently the mythos and map are the most developed. If any artists are interested in these subjects let me know too for the future :> , I of course dont mind commissioning pieces relating to these subjects
Currently: I'm working at getting an artist to make a proper map, and working on getting the different species concepted right now (very excited to show you all :3 !). I plan to use the old dnd 5e model where they would have different stat advantages and disadvantages to give them flavour, and cultural quirks that would affect a character's background (I love making dnd characters). I'm also writing out the different factions of the feline clans and the fall of their confederation under the last king. :>

Also, a sort of "crossover expansion" thing with Halita's odd species comes to mind. Not sure how it'll work out, but its there for an idea if needing a void filled or more content.....with valid permissions that is to merge "worlds" somewhat.
Well, in the lore so far Melissia form is so strange and alien and I sorta want her greatest disciples to sort of mirror that. Seeing everything in the world as debilitated and flawed, going through these awful transformations to perfect themselves in her image. I've been really wanting to explore that more in general. Sorta an alien/fish mix of a vibe, I adopted a character to use as a base for her design but never went further yet. The idea is that of a forbidden divine beauty that sorta mirrors the transcendence of the Budda/nirvana and all that.
The void needs plenty of content of course, all sort of potential eldritch horrors seeking to destroy and tear apart the world. They view existence as an affront or blatant insult to them, and so they have all sorts of horrific forms. I have a bad tendency of making them of making them look pretty though. Though I've been sorta playing around with the idea of different personalities and viewpoints some of the void-creatures can have. Some wanting to study/coexist in this strange heretical plane, some wanting to enslave it to their will, and others just wanting to destroy it altogether. Unlike the gods of creation who government among the emotions, they encompass the instinctual desires of all things.
Halita's an alien-insect-aquatic, so, bit more than Melissa's theme, I think. Definitely a being I'd synergize with, though. I wonder if there is a ironic or significant plotpoint one could use regarding her. Forbidden as she's the only intending-good one of the Gods, regardless of her unnatural beauty and transformative pains, perhaps?
Most Void/Eldritch designs need a main decision to be made: is the Void unified in theme, or is it endlessly divided and moreso chaotic/unknowable? Once that metaquestion is answered, design concepts tend to flow better. I lean towards divided with what you've said, which means having multiple design inspirations may be key(as well as multiple design foundations)...such as taking concepts and conceptually corrupting them to fit the overall theme of instincts.
I've noticed that tendency: all your dark beauties are the same beautiful-as-described! Can't say the same here, though, as only Halita herself is the beauty. Her hivecreatures aren't close unless one thinks a wriggling wormlike is "beauty." *Giggle.*
Can contact me over Steam/Discord/Telegram if you have them so I don't hijack these comments as I am. I use my OC's name on all three - Halita Silverblood.
For the game design stuff, I like to do a lot of narrative design focus (melding storytelling with game systems and mechanics) which is basically all a TTRPG is so I’d be more than happy to help put together some kind of system. Personally, in a large world like this I think adopting a more Pf2e like system for building the core of the character (race origins background ext) might make more sense because it builds character layers. For example, you have ancestry (your race) which offers you inherent benefits, felines may have some traits relating to agility or reflexes. The next layer is Heritage, which asks how did you experience that ancestry, gives more refined traits based on locality or terrain experience. Last is the background which asks what the character does, in what ways are they skilled to interact with the world around them. I think for this world it can allow for more easily saying “an avian from this place who is a tailor” because Beast world tried to do that with the 5e system and that resulted in 5-10 pages just for each basic race decision that could have been 2 pages for each race and 2 pages for heritages. It also lets you be more generic with those options to give players things generally useful and not shoehorn in a race to a class or play style. Also depending on how in depth you want to go with making a system, it also effects how much you give the player to manage; ideal longer campaigns will have more stats and shorter gets less stats. The length of campaigns will also impact how rules light you can afford to be and so on.
I also like the idea of allowing mages to have gems which can store a prepared spell as well if needed sorta like pathfinder’s system within limitations. Having mages also consider other approaches and weapons when the winds don’t favour them sounds interesting too, maybe runic/inscribed weapons, etc. The goal is to give players multiple tools rather than simply being a spellcaster or warrior, etc.
The other schools of magic I plan to have bound to a sort of dnd warlock patron/god, this would have more limited uses/slots, so there would have to be some kind of multiclassing nature for someone who wants to focus on multiple schools of magic. I want to try to avoid higher level spells which kinda break the late game in dnd, instead having more lower-tier spell options, but being able to cast more than 1 per turn at a certain level threshhold.
Either way I would love to chat more, it’s been an absolutely painful experience for me haha.
So say you wanted to do something like a paladin, you go for a guardian (1handed+shield), elemental domain of radiance/light, and either some kind of abjuration/healing school patron.
Or a rogue, go for a rogue martial style (2x1handed), elemental domain of darkness, and some kind of illusion/evocation school patron :>
I think the easiest way to structure classes would be by specifics, so you could pick Martial [style], Elemental Domain [domain], and Patron [function]. I say function for patron because it allows more for saying that a patron gives a healing blessing or a battle blessing and give small specifics based on a god or entity than say heres a long list of mechanics for each god or patron entity.
As for the elemental casting, the way you explained it sounds pretty solid already. Lets say that when writing an adventure, each area where combat happens theres a list of elemental affinities for that area. Lets say the desert. You might have affinity for fire and light, but an aversion to water or plant domains, but if fighting next to an oasis water may become an affinity. If a location has affinity for the element no check needed, if no affinity a magic check needs to be made based on the skill in the element and if it has an aversion to the element then it’s a harder check that is only likely if you maxed it.
But ya, I’m enjoying talking about this too, if you wanted J could send a note with my discord/tg (whichever works better) to work stuff out for this in more detail
