Seen people make harmless comments and get banned for it.

crack a joke a mod doesn't like and you get slapped for making a "creepy" comment, which is whatever the mods dictate it is at any given moment.

That and I would prefer NOT to subject my eyes to having to view that shit in the first place. Telling someone to "Tag it yourself" is a shitty fucking response because it means I have to view the image EVEN MORE in order to tag it. They're literally telling me to do the opposite of what I fucking want. Bitch how about you make uploading certain extreme kinks untagged a punishable offense instead? That'd actually fucking work to help solve the problem instead of fobbing off the responsibility onto people who DON'T WANT TO VIEW THAT STUFF

and when not that, it's people openly refusing to blacklist this or that tag to complain about it like tehy were on twatter, and funny enough how they often have the same basic "moral compass" when you check their faves, which are public btw, it often goes like this

I have always hated their "then tag it" response. I'm not the uploader, it's not my responsibility to accurately tag a piece that if it had been tagged right in the first place my blacklist would have kept it out. I remember one time I got a record for refusal to use blacklist because I asked "Why is this tagged as such and such when it's not such and such?" so I got hit with "Then correct the tag yourself" alongside the refusal to use blacklist record. But that's just the thing because participating in "tag wars" is also against the rules so of course I'm not going to try and edit tags because if the tag gets changed back then I've participated in "tag wars" yet another bannable offense. Don't even get me started on them removing the "cub" tag and changing it to "young" tag so there was a period where my blacklist was completely useless because when they initially made that change they didn't alias it correctly so it didn't matter if you had it on your blacklist or not it was still going to show up.

I got written up there for pointing out that cannibalism/guro of Tom Fischbach's characters was probably not done with his permission. Some very stable folks there.

E621 mods are infamous for very good reason. Between this and any disagreements they have on your tagging, it's a pain I don't bother going through.

They're also oddly LGBT+ phobic and very controlling.

There's also the time the parent company, Dragonfruit, pushed for legislation that would allow them to claim all art and ideas uploaded on their sites (e621, F-List, Bad Dragon, etc.) as their property, even if the original creator was not the uploader.

That last part is what pushed me to request a blanket removal of all art of my characters and be put on the DNP list.

Not sure how or why the furry community tolerates them; I guess porn and sextoys really do make folks complacent?

I think its a case of pure convenience. e6 like all image boards of its type has one of the best, most comprehensive and granular tagging systems. Its extraordinarly easy to filter down to some very precise things. FA's tags by comparison are nowhere near as good.

If there's one thing I've learned is that convenience is one hell of a selling point! And leveraging it is very powerful!

FA's tagging system is terrible because it's an afterthought. It's used more often as a joke than for anything comprehensive.
Also, most artists are going to be "dude, I just want to post my sketch. If I have to do half an hour of busy work just to research, identify, and meticulously tag every little feature in this picture, I'm not going to post." That's why non-poster tags are so powerful there.

Hell rule34 has a WORSE tagging system than e6. There's countless of tags just to describe one kink

but on e6 its just "hey we auto-corrected the tag to refer to ___"

The "tag what you see" rule is absolutely ridiculous. I wish I could kill it with fire. "But the character is female." "Sorry, looks male to me, and we tag what we see, so it's going to remain tagged as male." I got on the wrong side of the busybodies there, and that's when I gave up.

the first three is what's kept me off it, but i've never heard the last one until now and that absolutely batshit prospect is the final guarantee that i want nothing to do with anything dragonfruit.

as much as e6 has good stuff for most, if every kink/fetish/tastes, yea, mods can be very heavy handed and extremely vague when it comes to "explaining"

hell, some comms i leave here on FA, like one comment i left on a pic of Alizé saying "i'd gladly offer some help and maybe even service", relatively harmless comm right? well, comms like that can, and did get people banned for either "creepy comment" or "roleplay", nost of said ban seem arbitrary, and often can't be appealed

TLDR, site is okay, but mods/admins are the issue from all i could see/hear on here

e621 is a shit site to upload things to, because moderation is very bad, and they can modify tags and descriptions without consent. Also their Tag-What-You-See policy is trash and will always go against whatever tags you've set. I don't know why people still use it, I have a DNP with them.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this. I've been looking for better art websites to migrate to myself, but it seems like I just have to pick my poison. Furaffinity and Inkbunny are strong candidates.

I know some artists who do comics with chapter title pages get scrubbed from there all the time too. It's bs

I never was a fan of there mods.
I remember when my art was being uploaded there without my permission and someone Mislabeled Ruby, as a shemale, and I made a account saying "Im the owner and creator she is herm she has both sex organs" Only for a mod to scream at me that "I know nothing there is no pussy visible in that shot so she is shemale"

They also labeled a Animation i had as rape, due to how a character moans in it.

I feel validated about how badly that site is run after seeing all the posts here. I find the site to allow the most aggressively loud minority to ruin it XD. I like that I canfind references easily (If I learn to navigate their system),but fuck man the mods are miserable. It's like discord mods before discord mod jokes existed. They're like the OG sweaties.

I got upset once in a comment section over my own art. Several of my customers are bicurious men or at least like themes in art where they're bullied by women sexually. None of them IRL enjoy the theme but in art they do. I posted a COMMISSION of this caliber and the audience insinuated I was abusive IRL and did the same. That it should be tagged "conversion therapy". Which upset me because A) It's kink not literal conversion therapy, B) real conversion therapy is horrifying and not "that". And the mods are useless in real areas of issue like this. I hate and love that site.

Sounds like some people just don't know how to tell the difference between a fantasy and reality. I see the same thing every time some idiot puriteen weighs in that if you ever like a feral picture (even sentient ferals, not that it should make a difference), that you're an animal fucker IRL.
They have no concept that there is such a thing as a fantasy that you don't want to enact for real, all of your interests reflect on your personal, real morality.

Man e621 is so shit. It’s a shame it has a (theoretically) good tagging system, unlike a certain other furry art site that’s been around for fucking forever.

You should 100% file a takedown request and/or request Do Not Post status. Show them you mean business.

e621 is hot garbage and them calling themselves an "art archive" is the biggest joke when they demand all art features at least one character and that one character must be furry, demand a certain quality of the file, and good luck learning whatever specific ffmpeg parameters they want you to use to add audio to a video. oh, and did i mention sound designers don't get to be tagged under the artist section?

there's a lot of points in this comment section i'd second too, but what sticks out to me is their tagging is especially fucked when it comes to gender that goes beyond the terrible "andro/gynomorph and (male)herm then slap lore tags on" system. just look up `female trans_man_(lore) solo` to get pagefuls of characters labeled as their fucking birth gender because they're femme-appearing, a trans femboy, just simply have breasts, or even just because they're fucking feral. and if you try to correct such tagging on posts where there's tag edit wars? you'll get permabanned with no prior moderation action at all.

everything about e621 led me to putting up a notice to not post my art and art featuring my characters on there. so far, as far as i can tell i have not ended up on there. because art of my characters is predominantly commissioned, they do not allow character owners to have their characters added to the DNP, only artists, meaning you have to constantly keep an eye out and file takedowns as a character owner, which is frankly fucking ridiculous.

Let's not forget the fact that e6 allows AI generated backgrounds and audio on their main site.
