Hi all!
Many of you already know that I am now not a full-time artist. However I pick comms sometimes, so you still see some new pieces in my gallery.
I also stream sometimes, or just chat via DM with friends and/or commissioners about everything.
I was thinking for a while before posting this.
My point is the following:
Dear friends and commissioners! Due to a very hard times for everyone - I know we all have money issues, you - my commisisoners - have them first, and I struggle with you.
In case you want to make good or support, please NEVER PROMISE like you're back with a comm soon © and never come back.
Recently people are trying to support me with kind words and wishes and saying they are about to comm me _insert_time_period_ and then just vanish for good.
Better just say we are all in a bad situation now then make fake promises you never gonna fulfill. This not only breaks the trust matter but also makes me anxious not about you but about myself - like what's wrong with me when ppl say they come and never do? I am sure I'm not the only one, so, please, stop giving us unnecessary and unhelpful 'hopes' if you are not seriously intend to. I know you wish me goodies, but... This frustrates a lot. STOP IT. D:<

It's stupid and I absolutely need to stop. >_<
I bet many ppl think I'm always closed/have a lot of comms (or maybe I'm too expensive for their budget, not sorry, I know I do quite a lot for the price I take in a very short time D: )
and it might look I'm more successful comparing to a 'smaller' artists.. but this is not. Reality is - I can't earn enough with arts now to pay bills.
And this matter + ghosting = megafrustrating combo D:
Personally, I think your style is excellent and your work is priced *extremely* low for your skill level. But that is still out of the reach of many people, and many people don't want or need that level of quality.
I know you aren't asking for advice, but developing a simplified and stylised style that could be done for "half the price, but in a quarter of the time". Commissioners's brains are very simple, myself included. They cannot cope with the idea of one beautiful commision, when they could get two much less satisfying and worse looking commissions for the same cost.
Or, more relevant and more polite, for a simpler style and a lower cost, there are simply many, many more people who can afford a single, simple 5000RUB cartoon than a 35000RUB masterpiece.
I say all that with extreme sympathy for your position. The life and work of an arist is hard work and I have absolute admiration for those with the courage and determination to build their skills and their audience and work towards making it their career. It is more than I have the will to do.
Actually I have such tiers - like a sketch page, or quick portraits - bw style, or anything for the concrete budget. I even do stickers in cartoonish or more complex style. I feel like an orchestra in one person :D
However, as long as ppl still comm more complex stuff, all simple pix just got drawn in depths of gallery :D
Thank you for your compassion, I'm ok with all of that. However, it's a bit too late to push thru - I have already promised to be a gym trainer in a month, and I feel no regrets about that :D I don't quit art at all, just would be posting a bit less )
