I wouldn't necessarily a 100% agree. I don't think anything about social interaction can be that cut and dried. It's a good rule of thumb though. Opinions are, by and large, only to be shared in an environement that is either explicitly accepting of it, or fundumentally designed for opinions to be shared. A public forum can be welcome to it, and a family setting can very much... not be that. It''s always a good idea to pause and consider whether expressing your opinion would be welcome and/or polite.

Eh, depends on what kind of opinions you're talking about. When it's an opinion such as being pro trans rights, making those statements is a matter of creating safety.
