From my phone, because my desktop rebuild isn't going as quick as I had hoped.
My fucking god this is such a pain in the ass. Does anyone remember when shit just 'worked' and it didn't matter how updated your system was? I do. And sadly that seems to no longer be the case.
I've been at this since January twenty-fifth, just decided to bite and get on with it and build Ixion back new. Backing up data, dismantling, cleaning every surface of the case, and then unboxing all the hardware took a while and it wasn't until midnight when I ran into a stupid problem with the install saying that it needed a driver of some kind but wouldn't say what for.
The solution according to the internet was to switch which USB port was being used. The fuck? Why would that be the solution!?
And sure enough the internet was right.
Here now January twenty-sixth it should have been smooth sailing with software.
Nope.
I think I had to dive into Plan D for ways to finally get Windows10 to install because there must be a scratch on the disk that stopped it at ninety-two percent and it would error to failure.
So I tried copying the disk to a USB. It won't copy past this fault on the disk.
So don't ask me why but sometime ago I happen to have an ISO of Windows10 just...on my storage drive...for some reason and using that got me around the problem.
We're done right? Windows10 will work?
Yes.
But no.
Can't get online to hunt for drivers because Windows doesn't even give a functional network adapter.
Have to use my supplimental laptop to get drivers because fuck all comes included in your hardware packages now. So thats great.
Can't install the graphics drivers. Everything says its incompatible with Windows10 yet thats what I fucking have!
Oh, but you don't have the "current" version; 10.0.586 isn't current now its 1806 or 22H2 for some stupid fucked logic reason.
So now I have to put that on my system.
And this is why I wanted to have all my other affairs in real and online life situated before delving into this. For just this reason theres not really any pressure to get it done with some pressing event or the likes. Doesn't make it any less stupidly frustrating though to have something which should be straightforward simple just keep kicking you in the face around every corner.
