Furry is good for escapism, a vacation of sorts away from everyday BS, and I preferred keeping that spirit in my little presence here. That obviously changed back in February 2022, when I hoped I could make some small difference with info-gathering and advocacy.
That war still continues, and another urgent issue has arisen since then that I can't stay silent about:

The repercussions of that confessed rigged election? Threats against Canada, Denmark, Panama, Ukraine, and NATO, alienating us with our allies in general, and cozying up to Putin; that much seems to get reasonable publicity. Here at home though, the chaos being wreaked has gone at such a dizzying speed that it's been disorienting and exhausting trying to keep up with it--which is no doubt intended. So far, I've run across info about the following Federal agencies being raided by Musk's "DoGE" team, none of whom have security clearance, for full read/write access to their servers and all the sensitive information they contain, making alterations to the server code, and/or firing/layoffs which cripple the functionality of those agencies:
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Education Dept, EPA, National Parks, Fish & Wildlife Svcs, Dept of Agriculture, Food & Drug Administration, Dept of Energy (maintaining nukes), FAA (keep planes from crashing), FEMA, IRS (have bank accounts & PINs, can alter records), SEC (stocks/securities), FTC (trading), FCC (communications/media), FEC (campaign finances), Medicare & Medicaid, Dept of Defense, National Institute of Health, Center of Disease Control, NOAA (marine fisheries, the frikkin weather forecasts), US Treasury, USAID, the Pentagon, CIA, FBI, and I'm sure others I've somehow missed along the way..
Do not underestimate the situation. This absolutely is a soft coup, a hostile wholesale takeover of our government, and it's only going to get uglier the longer it continues, for all but the extremely wealthy.
Supposedly court cases are helping to slow things down but..the cattle're kinda out of the barn already; sensitive info's out of the servers, plus it sounds like they've been installing backdoors to ensure future access. The people doing it? Well, here's an example of one of the "DoGE" team, to get an idea of the sort of people who now have full access to national secrets, the Treasury, and the population's confidential information (IRS, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid):

Do you use Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, or Social Security? Do know someone who does? Do you expect to use them sometime in the future? The US House passed a budget which intends to cut them drastically, plus raise the debt ceiling, to fund those promised tax cuts for the wealthy. Somebody else has already given an overview of the process to opposite it as it proceeds, so rather than replicating it all here I'll just link to his thread:

Coordinated nonviolent protest erodes the support and legitimacy upon which a malignant regime depends and transfers them to the movement instead. Violent opposition would not achieve those goals, no matter how tempting.

This has all proven that there really is much-needed overhaul of the system, and that the ones currently implementing overhauls are definitely the wrong ones for the job.
I absolutely advocate for boycotting US companies (in particular those who've shown allegiance to this administration), being loud in your opposition to Donnie & co's BS, encourage greater cooperation between allies outside of US, anything which takes power away from these stooges and those who support 'em. I'd rather take the hit of hard times here for a while if it means getting this blight out of power, 'cause this definitely isn't just about us.
As for you guys up there, I do think Donnie's serious about trying to extort resources if he can. I don't know how much his talk about annexing Canada is serious or just bluffing, though I have serious doubts anything worse than perhaps a tense border standoff for a while might result if he did try to order anything aggressive be instigated. Just remember, Donnie's like Putin, Orban, any other loud "strongman" type--they'll take advantage of any perceived weaknesses such as courtesy and concessions, but balk when stood up to. Encourage your reps not to put up with any of his shit. Also:
