General
-March 14th 2025 Update Announcement-
We want to thank everyone for attending the Celebration of Life whether in person or virtually! It was a beautiful event that brought many together to celebrate all that Dragoneer did for us and the community. We are still working on assigning everyone’s badges from the event so if you don't have yours yet, don't worry, we'll get to you ASAP! Over 1,200 requests for the badge have been sent so far and we've applied just over 400!! As a reminder, the link to fill out the application for the badge is here: Form link. It was very heartwarming to hear the shared stories with all of you.
We also want to give a huge shout out to Fur the More for helping to host this! To AV, Programming, and Marketplace for helping things go smoothly for our crew and in general to all Fur the More staff. We couldn’t have done this without your generosity and support! Much thanks to our own staff as well for stepping up to help during the event in person and virtually as well as others that joined in to volunteer. It was incredible how many showed up and helped.
*We had over 135 in attendance at the con as well as 4,557 unique viewers during the virtual event!
We have an edited recording of the event posted here:
There will be another upload coming of just the "I was here" song and video. Just waiting on final edits! Huge thanks to
novetrix and
PepperCoyote for the live music!
We underestimated how much the event was going to take out of us and many of the staffers needed for the Town Hall are still in “recovery mode” from the convention. With that in mind, it is with regret that we will need to postpone the Town Hall by a week so that we can be at our best for it and properly prepared. The new date is March 22nd at 1pm EST via Sciggles’ twitch
We received many compliments on our booth at the convention but also were told that many had no idea we had merch! The Fur Affinity merch shop opened back in 2021 during the pandemic, you can visit it here: Shop link! If you’re on desktop, a link to the shop can be found at the top of the page via the shopping cart icon. For mobile users, the link can be found in the hamburger menu.
Here are some of merch items we have to offer-

The beta launch of Display Names to FA+ members went over very well! While display names themselves didn’t have issues, they did cause some other minor bugs that our team quickly took care of and resolved.
In addition to the launch of Display Names, we took the time to make some fixes in regards to the fit and function of the site!
Changelog of things recent
*The shop link and FA+ page are now visible to guests.
●Two new categories added:
∘"3D Models"- For submissions involving 3D models.
∘"Virtual Photography"- Includes 3D renders, VR scenes, virtual world photography (Second Life, VRC, etc.), and more.
●Fixed an issue where links on some notifications were unable to be clicked.
●Changes to how bot crawlers use data from our webpages in an attempt to squash spam bots.
●Fuzzy timestamps are now more cursed as of half-o-bit ago.
●Changed the display of user information in the user navigation bar on smaller screens to accommodate the new, longer display name functionality.
Unless any other issues come up in regards to Display Names we will aim to launch it to everyone some time in April! We really appreciate all the support from our FA+ members. It goes a long way in helping us have funding for the site. We hope to have some more features for you to help beta test for us soon. We will have a roadmap started by the time we have the Town Hall so you can have a preview of what's in store!
It has been brought to our attention that there are third party services that are being used to crawl Fur Affinity, among many other sites, for information. We would like to encourage our users to be mindful of any information they post publicly. Anything on your profile, journals, and General-rated submissions are publicly visible unless you have your account set to “block guests” via https://www.furaffinity.net/control.....site-settings/. In addition, any shouts or comments you make on other people's profile pages, journals or General-rated submissions will be visible unless the page owner has disabled guest access as well. For your own safety we advise you to not post anything that could publicly identify you, or any sensitive information about yourself. This is good advice not just for FA, but the internet as a whole, too!
Reminder to be excellent to each other in the comments and keep them on topic ❤️

FA+

I should be able to participate in the Townhall, I think.
At least do that for FA to be consistent.
And no I did not participate in the celebration of life, I had other things to do.
This is a weird hill to die in anyways. Many people want this feature! Grow up.
Mind you, some FurAffinity members also have DeviantArt accounts too.
For this? Yes it does. This is one of those things that's so deep under the hood that messing with it would break Classic if it wasn't also added to Classic.
Especially when you consider why it took so long for us to get anything of the sort.
"I don't like the feature at all. I'm planning to leave if this goes through. "
Why? It's literally just the ability to change your displayed username, which is a standard feature on most sites and something many people have been clamoring for for the majority of FA's lifespan (before this, you had to CREATE A WHOLE NEW ACCOUNT if you wanted a different name); it might be the most-requested change in FA history. What exactly is your problem with it? Why are you so worked up about it? Nothing is forcing you to change your established name or anything.
furaffinity.net##.js-displayName
or
furaffinity.net##.c-usernameBlock__userName.js-userName-block
to hide either the display names or the user names from all FA pages in classic mode. Just don't use both filters together, as that would block all names.
I'm sadly stuck with classic mode, because of my low vision. I have albinism and extreme photo-sensitivity, and can't see on dark backgrounds much at all, because bright letters on dark appear to flare and pulsate with my eyes. But, the alternative modern light background is way too bright. The text doesn't pulsate that way, but the intense background causes me pain like looking into car headlights. The classic light mode, on the other hand, is less bright so it doesn't cause me pain, and the text is readable.
In any case, the user/display name filters should work with any ad blockers that accept standard filter syntax, but are only tested in classic mode.
Right now, I think it would be just an additional color option, where the background isn't overly dark or overly light. Since people's visual problems tend to vary a lot, it might even mean more than one additional color option. Then more extreme light on dark, and dark on very light are there, but having text on a less extremely contrasty background would be very helpful to me. The contrast obviously can't be made too low either.
I looked at some of the theme files that FA's pages include, and realize that for any change in background color, there are a huge number of small adjustments to various text colors that could come into play, like the main text colors, link colors, user/display name colors, quote colors, button and button text colors, message colors, message header colors, and so many others. And, everything has to end up easily readable by as many users as possible. Whoever originally designed the classic themes did a great job with making them readable, even if they are otherwise dated.
They stated in todays journal, that they're aiming to release the feature site wide for everyone in April.
Although, I'm glad that the event went as planned.
The issue has been fixed for me for a while now. I hope that stuff stops for you too!
Now hope mine gets back to normal too
Also I assume the change to the bot crawlers is what broke fxfuraffinity?
Bc xfuraffinity has been working even tho fxfuraffinity isn't.
/Genuine, I don't know anything about networking stuff.
Thanks again for the livestream, it was wonderful, I wish I could have been there in person, but that was very nice. <3
Tho what's the difference between 3D Models and Virtual Photography?
I hope that clears it up ^^; we just wanted to give people options.
Thx for the clarification! ^^
I think it'd be better to make categories separated by whether they were rendered in programs dedicated for 3D art like Blender, Maya, etc. versus captured from games or VR experiences like VRChat, Second Life, etc. It could be as simple as just changing 3D Models to 3D Renders or CGI Art to make it more broad while keeping Virtual Photography solely for games and VR screenshots.
I hope that clears it up ^^; we just wanted to give people options.
Thankfully my insurance is better now and I was able to get that debt wiped entirely, but American healthcare shouldn't have allowed that to happen in the first place.
BTW, You see this? https://www.furaffinity.net/view/57668283/
Go ahead and add that to the memoriam of our departed leader.
Thank you for improving the site and added some great new features for it.
Also i see some neat Bottle-Cap opener i'd love to get one or two but it's not in the F.A Shop ^^"
Are these new Not-Released-Yet Merchs ? :p
That said, I am talking just as an user, I've no idea how hard would be to implement something like that and I'm not an expert on anything 3D either.
The star designs on the mugs in the shop, would make cute stickers. Just a thought I had. X3
Always good to have reminders and updates about Internet safety. Like I've once heard before: "Whenever someone puts up new defenses, someone will always try to find a way around them."
And Hooray! The Display Names are projected to become available in April! Of course I know it says that's the plan, if nothing else comes up. But I'm happy to wait longer in case something does. Anything to make sure everything works well with these new plans. (More then just the Display Names.) Whenever the Display Names do become ready for all, I can finally get my old Account ready for my Story Series I've been working on.
It would definitely be nice to see what comments you've left in the past though, I can see the comments posted count but can't reflect on what I had posted.
And for separate category for 3D, I've been waiting for this for so long <3
NGL that tumbler is lookin' pretty tempting... I want the plushies too if I can make space for them. Are they gonna' be limited edition?
And glad you got your pin! And I see you got your memorial badge too!
Seeing people's art memorializing him was nice.
Glad you're acknowledging that certain organizations are trawling the site. Hope people stay safe
Hope you're well.
Having been there, if even virtually, is worth infinitely more than all the badges!
Thank you for your hard work <3
Looking forward to whatever future features you are planning to add!
Then maybe people will properly tag their submissions.
I do have a question! What category does GPosing from FFXIV fall under? I usually put it under Screenshots, but I wanted to know if that would now fall under Virtual Photography.
You guys all work so hard for us, I wish I could support monetarily!
I'm excited to see name changes in the future, it will be nice to not need to create a new account to change usernames!
Love the silly little timestamp update, here here to making FA more whimsical!
//would love a beanie hat option for the pawprint logo in the shops lol
but Is there any possibility of having the PIXELART and virtual photograpy category in future?
I'm glad his family got to see in real life the effect he had with how many were there to pay respects.
The new pressure on our community seems to be very deliberately targeted. Recent bills in Texas seem to be signalling anti-furry agenda in the GOP's strategy, HB 4814 aka the "F.U.R.R.I.E.S. Act", is currently being debated to 'prohibit non-human behavior' in Texas public school students. I anticipate that Furaffinity will need to urgently consolidate its status as having multiple US states it operates within, which I believe is on the agenda still?
I won't be able to make the Town Hall stream, so hopefully this topic isn't completely missed.
PS: Cool that the celebration of life went well, and the convention was unhampered by bad people.
It's BS legislation based on 4chan scams, being used as a cudgel to imprison kids & force them into slave labor.
It's also probably looking for an excuse to shut down the site for whatever reason they want.
Lo and behold.
It's also been so wonderful to witness how 'Neer had a positive impact on so many countless people's lives, both those who knew him and who've never met him through what he created. And tho I was merely a casual online friend of many, I'm happy to have known him while he was still with us. He was an awesome person, and (while not flawless sure), an inspiration. I can only hope to be so creative as to invent something so impactful one day.
Sciggles did a great job as a speaker, even with how emotional the event was. Proud of you, Sciggles!
I don't know if the ACLU would help, although fuck knows they should.
please make it searchable. it makes it easier to search for 3D content many people don't know that it is not searchable...
Also, I wanted to ask, it's okay for the badge form thing, if my email is different? Lemme explain a bit:
I used to have another FA account which used my main gmail, but lost access to
Then I made this one which I've been using ever since, with my secondary gmail.
¿It is okay if I fill the email form fields with my main gmail and the FA registered email Field has the gmail I use for this account?
And, people who submit the more "niche" Typed comics will appreciate the por qué nos las dos during submission time, instead of having to pick only one or the other.
(I should mention, I do love FA keeping these dropdown boxes around -- don't ditch them like dA did!)
(PS - I have a few small nitpicks with how the "Species" dropdown is grouped, but that's something for a different time. If I try to cite even one specific example that dam will burst)
The celebration of live stream was absolutely amazing and well done. I am proud to be one the ones that says "I was Here" Dragoneer legacy will live on in all us! I wish I could done more like make an art piece but like many my own demons prevented that. Now for a quote. "Spartans never die, they're only MIA" Dragoneer was a Spartan of our community, he may be MIA but his work continues on, we shall never forget him!
Thank you all for your hard work!
It could be 10 images only or maybe more? but maaaaan would that be useful! Especially for telling stories with ones artwork instead of individually submitted pieces. It would also help prevent reposting the same images over like showcasing different outfits on the character and cluttering the gallery up with that instead of more important pieces we want prominent.
I think I need that translated or something...
it is the love that went into this ;_;
Pls I can literally make stuff with actual audio under 10mb in like, so many different formats.
It's as if the "Login to Fur Affinity" is disabled/does nothing at all.
I'm logged in on my phone browser just fine, but my desktop browser just won't let it happen no matter what I do (clear cache, use keyboard commands, etc.)
Rest in peace to a true legend..
edit: to be clear Im using fuzzy time stamps. Those are correct, but when I hover over it for the actual time, its off by 3 hours.
Example its 7:15 est here, a note I got a few minutes ago accurately says a few mintues ago, but when I hover the time stamp says 4:15.
Not a big deal it hasnt affected me, just letting you guys know its something I just noticed XD
I was instantly going into tears when the introduction started, and I could not shake the thought that I missed my chance to meet 'Neer. He was a very very important member to our community, and I was just overwhelmed with sadness as I was reading over the notes from a lot of people during the intro.
I first registered for this website somewhere around 2010 or 2011, and I officially considered myself a part of the community at around 2012. I didn't reach out to a lot of people because I was a major shut-in introvert back in those days. But being around this community helped me explore more of my social side and helped me be a little more outgoing around people.
But that's enough rambling on that side of the coin. I need to properly sit here and say a few things for Dragoneer.
Thank you so much for making FurAffinity for our community to express our artistic talents with one another. Though some of us aren't exactly artists ourselves, we always appreciate the arts we see from our fellow community members.
I wish I could say more, but most of what I would want to say has already been said. Just... Thank you, Dragoneer... for everything..! :')
You did a very wonderful job with your opening statements! I know I would have struggled very hard to keep myself composed enough to be able to speak. 'Neer is very lucky to have met someone like you, and you've been doing a fantastic job with your team to help keep this site running! Keep your head up, and keep up your fantastic work! <3
Also, let me say that after comments on Fender journals being disabled for a long time, I welcome the ability to comment again.
As a whole, I noticed a serious drop in both spam and inflammatory troll posts, so something is going right.
I should check if I donated to the GFM. I honestly cannot remember.
