Toronto is a bit far for me (four hour train ride) and I really don't like hotels. I pretty much stick to conventions in my own city that I can bus to these days.

I'll be going to Geeked Out this Saturday, then to Anime Ottawa in April. I'd like to go to CanFURence again but I'd need a fellow furry to go with as my buddy ThatWeirdCollector has expressed there's not really a whole lot for him to do at furry cons.

Thats a totally reasonable outlook on conventions. I stay with two others in the event so they deal with the hotel side of it. I just pay for part of it.

Hope the conventions for you go well! And I'm sure you can find some others going to Furence if you wanted too but just gota be careful. I've gone with a 'group' before being left as they went to do other stuff. But I'm sure you can find some.

I've always found it challenging to connect with people IRL. It's why I pretty much only have one IRL friend who I can rely on to show up when we plan stuff. And he's not a furry.

Then again thats basically how it is for me as well. Most of my furry friends are just online that I get to see at places like FE. At least we have that in this crazy world. Those who are more local are still a few hours away but the times we do meet up is often great.

For me it's always been "How do I mingle with people and invite them to hang out without it coming across as weird?" That's not just my own insecurity either, most attempts I've made at making friends over the years genuinely creeped people out. I just have this aura about me that makes people uneasy unless they already know me very well. Most of the friends I DO manage to make have even more debilitating anxiety than me and rarely ever show up for things I try to plan with them.

Ive found that to be the case in general the older I get. Most of the friends I have are 5 years or more being friends. Its just tougher as older people just tend to express and want to do stuff less due to responsibilities and the like. But hoping for the best for ya Ace <3
