let me make one thing clear:

i think intellectual property is a force exclusively for evil. i do not think it protects artists. it's creatively stifling. simply put, it's an anti-art system.
you aren't powerless to stop it, though. you can't dismantle it on a legal level, but you can dismantle it in your mind. go on, do it. use that song you like. steal poses and compositions from artists you look up to. copy OCs. pirate everything. i'm serious. nobody owns anything you see on the internet. nothing is nailed down. it's ok. nobody is materially harmed by "idea theft", for one simple reason: "idea theft" isn't real. to the extent that you can, live as if everything is in the public domain. it'll make you a happier person and a better artist.
EDIT: probably also worth mentioning a couple of anti-copyright works i like. i haven't done a ton of reading on the topic, but i like this video and its sequel by patricia taxxon, as well as this talk by nina paley (who is unfortunately a massive transphobe. very sad. but nevertheless she has good opinions on copyright that were influential to me).

so many artists obsession with 'credit' has done more harm than good.. like its beyond art the effects of that thinking but yeah. its surprisingly polarizing to say it tho..even tho everybody 'violate' it in some way at some point, like its so natural! we in deeply anti-art times..
i wish fellow western anime artist to realize this especially.. come on guys lets have a little self awareness here!
that fucked concept of 'ownership' is such a plague. the real problems probably come from a lack of seeking balance within self. like stepping back and bein like w8- this discomfort is just an emotional reaction/projection not some systematic violation of the soul lawl. ..artists we really gotta love ourselves and eachother more..
like sonic the hedgehog, hes still sonic even tho hes been recolored to shit! and miku! etc etc..like if its a strong idea it being 'stolen' shouldn't affect it on a fundamental level. if anything it makes it stronger when its been so loved and reiterated and shared around..its how art works! and how unique refreshing things come to be! plus, like what u said, being police about this stuff only affects young artists not the actual forces causing harm!
