Unity Help (Avatar tail/ears)

I have searched and searched on Google with no satisfactory answer, so I ask anyone here with experience in working with VRChat avatars in Unity. I just started working with such things the other day, so I am very much a novice and may need some stuff explained like I'm 5.
I have a pre-made model with a tail and ears that I'm struggling to make the bones for the tail and ears active so they aren't just static in VRC. It's set as a humanoid rig, but won't let me do anything in configuration to enable those bones. Is there a particular tool that I need in Unity to enable those bones, or is there a Rig setting that just needs to be configured? Any help would be appreciated.
