I had my fair share of dealings with Mailbox Books. The man always did me right. I liked the "Fran 'n' Maabl" comics he did, too.

If it wasn't for Ed,I would have never seen any furry APA back in the day. I was always greatful to him for that. RIP Ed. You did good.

Ed Zolna was perhaps as instrumental in the growth of the early furry fandom as anyone, helping to promote and popularize many of the first well-known artists and storytellers. We would not be here, as the fandom we are, without him. RIP, Mr. Zolna.

Ah hell.

When Karno’s journal had the “Ed Lives!” headline a couple days ago, it sparked hope that Ed Zolna was still with us. Turns out it was about Ed Kline, who’s doing alright. That's great news to hear. But now we know the sad truth about poor Ed Zolna.

I sincerely hope he had friends or family by his side in the end. No one should face their final moments alone, without comfort or farewells.

I also hope his affairs are in order and his writings and belongings are preserved, not lost or thrown out as can happen and has happened to other folks. Rest in peace, Ed.

Sad news. Thanks to mailbox books I got many furry comics and APAs back then. He and MMM ran the furry parties at philcons back in the day.

Oh, so that wasn't long after he pulled down the site.
This hurts, and I didn't even know him, really,

He seemed so nice when I ordered from him, but I didn't know who was behind second Ed until the announcement and it got pulled.

I tried to learn more about him for a tribute video in my furry history series, but couldn't find much, so I tried to imclude mention at least in a few videos.

I'm trying to learn about early fandom figures and cover them in videos, but for the most part we're losing them before or as I discover them.
And it makes me sad more furries aren't interested in the history.

Anyway I hope he has peace and happiness wherever he is.

I remember your name from pouring over archived chats on altfan furry when researching for a few videos on Chester. That thing is incredible, I should find a way to save the whole thing somehow, but honestly aren't sure how yet, and would take a lot of memory.

One of my videos prompted a graduate student from Tours University to reach out and ask alot of questions about early furry zines for a doctoral thesis I believe it is.
I told him what I could and then pointed him in Terries direction.
I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you too, if you wanted, since you also were part of those early years,
I can dm you his email if you'd like.

But yeah, just trying to do what I can to keep the history alive.

A quick glance at that website doesn't show anything strange or startling in probate, mark you. Looks to be fairly routine stuff.

You mean it's supposed to have people demanding money in it?

The stuff from 11/22/2024 looks like the standard actions in setting up the case; this is followed by the will being admitted into probate a few weeks later. Then that's followed by the notice, which means that the court is giving notice to all interested parties; i.e., folks that are probably named in the will. The 1/14/2025 items are likely the appearances by the folks who received notice, and are named in the will. Note that they're all the same date. They seem to be consenting to the appointment of the executor, and waving the requirement that the executor post bond. So yes, doesn't look like anything but routine stuff.

I met him several times at the Philly C/FO where he was a regular dealer. I think he was already retired from SEPTA. "Mailbox Books" was a major source for "alternative reading": furry, anime, manga, etc. I was in contact with him after his move to Florida. Thanks for spreading the news. A lot of us care.

Oh no! I should had known earlier! I had frequent and bought many Furry comics and novels from Second Ed from 2008 - 2022! I could had bought more in 2023 and 2024 again, but I forgot! I still have his receipts and mail order form.

Rest in peace, Ed! Thank you for your contributions to the Furry Fandom! You were great! I'll miss your store and the emails you had sent to me.
