The Battle Angels By Gabby

I'm a Field medic, the FDC calls us the Battle Angels. we are the ones who come in after the battle and heal who we can. it's probably the hardest position in any military but we are granted commandant rank which is just under admiral (we use a mixed rank system.). The medics are often the last friendly face that a dying soldier sees. we do everything to try and save them but most times we have to watch their last breath...that's a heavy burden. it can be rewarding for sometimes when you identify yourself as a medic, enemy and ally alike perk up even for a few seconds. I sometimes see a smile just as the light in their eyes fade. I collect the dog tags to send them home with. Death after death we have to march on as there is always someone who needs medics. We have no time to think, focus or even grieve. we much move fast. When you see one of the angels descending i hope you feel hope and peace. Other names are Valkyries. As we leave may and head for July remember along with the fighting troops are the Medics. We may not be known but we fight and "die" many times in war.
