Omg I'm glad you were able to experience it! I've gone to the last couple. Honestly, it's an experience like no other. The amount of effort that's put into the worlds and theming with their creative team is second to none. I cried so many times throughout it. Obviously better experienced with friends (what con isn't?), but it's an incredibly well organised event.

The "lobby" world is a bit like a normal con hotel lobby. Meet people, chat, chill, whatever. There are different instances because you obviously can't stuff 20000 people into one world, but their online portal makes things pretty smooth (and tells you exactly which worlds your VRchat friends are in, so you can join on top of them).

There are the meetup worlds for the scheduled meetups (there are usually 2 official meetups going on at once).

The "stage world" has all the events and panels you would normally see on the main stage of a normal convention. They use a bit of tech where the panelist/performer is in the host world and their "hologram" gets broadcast to all of the viewing worlds, so you don't have to be in the same world as them (there's also the stream on youtube/twitch, which I was fortunate enough to be part of producing this year).

And of course you probably saw the dealers den world, which was actually open to the public this time on the lead up to the convention. This is open to VRchat model creators/texture artists, as well as regular furry artists (in a different section).

Like a lot of convention, each con has a theme. This time around it was centered around dreams. The one before was desert sci-fi. They actually publish some example assets and style guide before the convention to give the chance for attendees to customise their avatars to fit in with the theme, but this isn't a requirement.

Honestly, I've written too much but I can rave on about VR and furality in particular A LOT. It's left such a huge impact on me that I feel like I always have to expose people to it. If you ever have any questions about it (or VR in general), please let me know. <3

It is! I also forgot to mention the club world. Even though I'm not typically a person who likes dance music, the light show and effects are impressive and the vibes can be great.

It really was something else! and I didnt even experience as much as I could have xD Along with the high of VR and seeing other ppl in front of me move around for essentially the first time, it was just a crazy experience xD

Yeah! A lot of people seem really dismissive about it, but then get into it and then have that light bulb moment of "finally getting it".

There are so many possibilities for expression it's insane. So many cool experiences to have. I have full body tracking and the ability to move around incorporate some creature-like movements with my body or expression emotes just gives my brain all sorts of lovely feelings. My favourite thing is to cuddle and be cozy with friends.

Firon who has commented down below is a bit more of an expert than me, but if you feel OK about adding me on there (I acknowledge this is the first time we've interacted!) then my name is just "Kalmor". From a business point of view though that sounds like a solid idea. More reach is always a good thing.

i only actually heard about it like this year and last year lmao, never been to it tho as i dont really do vr nor have the interest atm (or the space and money for the headset/fullbody tracking for the full experience xd), but i could totally see ppl doing that sort of stuff like how real cons do it?? even if it is in vr and not physical. honestly sounds super fun if you're with your friends/the right crowd

You don't need a VR headset, you can play in desktop mode too! Not as fun/immersive obviously but a lot of attendees will switch to desktop mode in between breaks anyway, or for long panels.

I have sadly no experience with VR i only been to physical cons myself but i guess it can be fun to do virtual convention? And can be good for ya to have a art booth to show off your art to people who maybe don't use FA as much. ^^

Ive personally never even been to a proper con yet, so I guess this draws me since its so new xD

I staff it, and I've been going to Furality since 2020! I help run the events, and the panels and performances are heaps of fun. You can view them from the stage world with a fancy hologram that shows whoever's on stage, and we run it like a live TV production with camera operators and everything. It's also streamed on Twitch so folks can watch even when not in VR.

Of course I also enjoy the lobby, which is a nice cozy hangout world to vibe with your friends in. And then go dance at the club, which has genuinely amazing visuals. And because it's VR, you get to see all your friends in front of you in real time and share the experience together. :D It's pretty wild, much closer to an IRL con than you'd think. Your brain kinda starts treating it like you're really there in a space, not looking at a screen or anything.


As for the dealers den, yes! I have found a lot of dealers hanging out, and I believe the website even shows when a dealer is in a specific instance of the den during the dealer meetup hour. :3

Yes I really felt like I was there! I would switch and look at the world with Miza's VR set but I was mostly on desktop since we dont have 2 sets. BUT it was still awesome and now Im going to try to save up for another VR!

Ive wanted to go but dont really want to purchase a ticket for an online event. if it was free i'd go. I can't really justify buying a ticket since its... not real. And VRChat is free. I might eventually go but, i always seem to be not feeling it when it rolls around.

While there are no guarantees, Furality does have a free voucher program for people who would be under a financial squeeze. I think a thousand-plus attendees got vouchers this most recent one. And I think people at the higher attendee levels also get vouchers they can hand out themselves for a plus one.

The con has to pay VRchat for the use of their CDN and the additional load they put on the servers, as well as all the extra stuff to make the streaming work well, and of course the backend software to make the friends system, auto world creation and joining mechanics all work with 20,000 people hammering them :). All of these things are very much not free. As staff, it did surprise me seeing how much all these things cost.

Regardless, every staff member gets at least one free ticket to give away, as well as those that go for the higher tiers of registration. And as Veritas said there are opportunities to claim financial hardship.

Ah, I wasn't aware they had to pay VRChat. I thought VRChat just hosted on their servers like normal which is why it seems weird to me the event would sell tickets. I know stuff costs money I'm just very much not a .. how do I phrase it. I don't buy things in games. Like Gacha stuff or Fornite. I buy a game once and then I don't make digital purchases. I do break this rule a bit since well, I do have a custom VRChat model and I would buy + to support the server costs because VRC is quite a cool thing. I guess its less about the money and just, everytime it rolls around i'm like ahhh..... I have to buy a ticket... and it's more just the mental burden of having to take an extra step before gearing up to even get in VR which is also a whole thing in my brain, that holds me back from actually attending. Just little mental blocks. I'll get in there one of these years.

Furality is great! And this is coming from someone who has accidentally scheduled vacations during Furality events because I am dumb.

All the planning, all the events, all the immersion is just a really mind-blowing experience. You do have to pace yourself because VR-time can be exhausting and sometimes you have to charge those physical and social batteries. But everyone has a blast and the music is outstanding!

I really need to plan better next year so I can attend it.

I was there, liked it as always. Vr is a great meeting spot for friends, even without a whole con going on. No other way to make it so time efficient AND being able to be in the form of a furry character^^
I often meet friends an hour or two before I have to go to bed in the evening. It would be nice to get to know you in a meet and greet :)
