Walked into work today and was first told by my manager that today could be my last day because of an email that came out, and that I could choose between now and Monday.
So I was like.. well I want to stay till at least till Sunday. I get premium pay if I'm in the building and I hadn't brought my googly eyes in. (I was planning to cover some things in them on my last day as a silly little goodbye).
Then once I asked my manager if Sunday was ok because there wouldn't be any managers there and, I need to turn my badge into someone, I was told that they misinterpreted the email and that I was being forced to leave today instead.
Que meltdown for an hour. Muddled through the day helping my work lead with things and then picked some sunflowers from the courtyard for my mom and left them on her desk.
(I couldn't just leave and go back for the googly eyes btw. Since February I've been carpooling with my Work Lead since she has MS and couldn't drive well due to a bad infection that landed her in the hospital. I've been driving her car and helping her get out and into the building and back home into her house etc. So I couldn't just leave and come back.)
All we can figure is that they don't want to pay people the Sunday pay on the new pay period which starts Saturday. Just one last jab in the back. Wouldn't be government if cruelty wasn't the point.
(Also my co worker does have plans in place and I do plan to try and help her get to work still. So no worries there. We'd been planning since April.)

I'm going to take a few days to a week and see where I'm at. But I now have more time which means room for art. I'll keep you posted.
