Anthrocon 2025 - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Now that AC25 is in the books, I get to do another one of these! There was a lot to go over both good and bad for Anthrocon this year.
Good: Registration line was super fast - me being a Super and
glittoriel being an Ultrasponsor helped, but still less time than before.
(Slightly) bad: Condado Tacos - the visit was good, but where they need slightly shamed is the house margarita. Last year, the house margarita pitcher was still 100% agave tequila. This year I asked what the house was...and they told me "Tortilla". Condado Tacos, you are supposed to have the representation of a place so good with the tequila that even your bottom shelf is still worth drinking. Tortilla Gold and Silver should not even be allowed to cross the threshold into your establishment. Great service, great margarita (once we got it established 818 was going in that pitcher) but for the love of god stop serving Tortilla there, you're better than that
Thank fucking god, again: I still fit in the fursuit. Phentermine is a hell of a drug.
Good: Once again, two visits to Penn City Grille and the Supersponsor Brunch and I consumed an entire pig's worth of bacon. It finally got to the point where it was that meme of Homer going "there's food there but I don't want to eat it! I've become everything I ever hated" after the brunch.
Good, FINALLY: Some minimum quality standards for the fursuit parade. The end goal was met where the parade ran under an hour.
Ugly: No acrylic fursuiter tags at all. I understand last year having non-numbered ones but to do away with them entirely? That was one of the little perks/additions that just added charm to AC and I'm sad to see it didn't happen. Can this at least return as a Sponsor/Supersponsor perk?
WOOOOOOW - Pokefurs. We're in Hall C. We NEEDED Hall C. Group photo was nuts. Still needs a better process and the meetup needs to be more than 60 minutes now, but it's still amazing. Walking into that room as Lucas is nirvana. I am who I am truly meant to be in that moment, and that meetup in and of itself makes Anthrocon worth attending.
Boo - was hoping either Dweet or Adam would win Smash. Can't get everything we want, but grats on still getting 3rd Dweet!
Ugly: The Ultrasponsor line jump NEEDS to apply to the Fursuit Parade line. It's a stamina issue. It gives us the ability to go to the Block Party without having to de-suit immediately after the parade. This was a thing in 2024 but didn't happen in 2025. Spoke with Kage/the Vice at the cocktail reception and I truly did feel heard on it, so thank you for taking the time to hear us on this.
Good: ...the cocktail reception. UNLIMITED BEER AND WINE. Holy fuck. Yeah it was fuck me up o'clock there.
No major drama, just mainly leaving notes for myself before the truly important journal of today gets posted.
(Lucas, you still had more water than you needed. You went with 26 bottles and came back with 10. You brought 3 margaritas and came back with 1 and a half. You brought 8 Kickstart again and brought back 5. You don't need the snacks AT ALL next year - there's enough food built into the perks. Seriously don't even bring the chips or pretzels. Maybe some Cinnabons and even that's questionable.

As unpopular as this viewpoint is, I don’t generally support bans/firing/expulsions/evictions based on beliefs alone even if they are atrocious (like fascism.)
…but I DO support bans/firings/etc for actions commited within the place the bans/etc apply to…and from what I heard he threatened to shoot an Anthrocon attendee? If so, that DOES warrant a permanent ban unless somehow many years after the fact the person has shown legitimate remorse and attempted to appropriately make amends with all they have hurt, and that in no way happened with this guy - so if he was banned and managed to attend and get in the parade on top of it, THAT is an issue.

Part of my EARLY drama in Mewtwo fan communities dealt with people that had Mewtwo as an unwilling submissive to Giovanni so that picture was so, so cathartic. (Particularly when I wasn’t mature enough to correctly handle seeing stuff I didn’t like.) Basically a lot of demons put to rest and that meant more than you know.
Next time, I really need to get a picture
