Let's Push Back Against Adult Content Erasure
    3 months ago
I'm making this post because this is an important subject to me. I'm mainly looking to spread awareness and resources.
As a real quick rundown, several Payment Processors (Visa, Mastercard, [possibly]Paypal) have pressured online services (Steam, Itch.Io) to remove NSFW content from their stores.
Payment processors had previously already pulled from supporting NSFW Japanese content online as well. (Pixiv and their stores, for example.)
It's not a far reach to assume things are going to get worse for NSFW spaces.
If you have the time, I'm re-posting some resources below to help fight-back against these attacks against NSFW spaces.

CALL AND COMPLAIN - The main thing to say is that you disapprove of and disagree with them using their power to force 18+ adult content out of online spaces, and that you vehemently support the free expression of artists of all kinds. You could also add that it is NOT a payment-processor company's job to police the internet or act as de-facto nanny.

I know change. org petitions usually don't get much attention, but, if you're not going to call, please still consider signing the petition, or Email. (All, preferably.)
[Full transparency, this post began as me copying this from Solar Delton's discord server, as I completely agree and echo his sentiments - but I've updated it somewhat for my own FA journal]

The most frustrating part is that those Payment Processors themselves felt pressured to do so by fundamentalists: https://bsky.app/profile/data-sparr...../3lupw56ldg22v
After all, as long as the
spicemoney flows, they should be happy with any purchase, NSFW or not, right? It's only the prospect of losing customers that urged them to "take action"......but most of the people now saying "we need to show corporate entities that we won't let them pick and choose what we can see online" have said absolutely nothing as corporate entities have censored political opinions they don't like, so kind of hard to feel too much sympathy.
Look at how Youtube/etc have started totally changing the language people use in everyday life ("unalived / "graped" / ...) if no one's going to push back against that, then we're not winning this one
Collective Shout are nothing but a bunch of wankers who believes that children/minors should be protected from pornography, NSFW Media of any kind, and there shouldn’t be any portrayal or promote of the sexualization of women or violence of any kind in video games.
Here’s my words I would like to say to Collective Shout. If all of you have an issue with violence, NSFW, and Adult content in Video Games, Movies, Books, and on the Internet. Then how about you just don’t look, or just not watch that stuff and just stop telling people what to do and using the government to police what we can see. And instead start being FUCKING PARENTS! You fuckin assholes.
If we want to have access to things y’all are against, that’s our choice to make. So Fuck OFF you fuckin Braindead crybabies.
Although there is some good news in all of this mess as the Japanese Parliament have placed Sanctions against Visa because this evil Payment Process Blackmailing Scheme violates JFTC Laws.
Also have you heard the news about UK’s new law that requires people to provide some form of Government issued Identification like ID Card, DoB, or Biometric Identification just to have access to sites that offers NSFW content.
Meaning people trying to access their Discord, Twitter, BlueSky, Reddit, and etc. are basically blocked from accessing them unless they provide proof that they’re over the age of 18.
And here’s something funny, the public backlash is so bad that Collective Shout have set all of their Social Media sites to Private.
It aims to stop this exact problem. Call your senators. If enough people make noise, they'll have more of a reason to support this.
