Accidently having fun
After a lot of heh and hawing about it I finally did some PvP in an MMO over the weekend and to my surprise actually enjoyed it despite the fact that I, unsurprisingly suck at it. I always though my lack of skill would bring the team down and everyone would hate me as a result. Turns out, most people (safe a salty sausage that takes the game WAY to seriously) are actually pretty chill and long as your not being an actual hindrance they don't mind carrying newbies. I learned a lot about WvW, got some build advice for my toon and got invited to a guild that focuses around helping new players in PvP. For the longest time I've been a solo act, if I did any team-based content I did what needed to be done, then waved good bye to the team as I road off into the sunset. This time I was voice chatting, making jokes and generally participating in the group rather then just being a part of it. Our time together may have been brief but it was sweet, even if my social anxiety still flared up.
So yeah, still terrified of social interaction but I still managed to have fun and that makes me want to try instead of just hiding away from the world. After all my muzzle is getting greyer by the day and if I keep wasting time sitting around feeling sorry for myself eventually I'm going to use up all the time I have left. That would suck, I got my eyes on a new mount and tons more WvW grind to get it. :P
