All those “protect the children” laws are just covers to censor things they don’t agree with, isolate parts of the world, and shove propaganda in people’s faces. So many times governments have failed at step 1, because people realise it’s a short jump from there to the second and third steps. What’s deemed “inappropriate” is very contextual, but it very quickly becomes banning queer content under “pornography” because people just trying to exist is controversial. >:C

no i definitely agree!!! I think there's a lot that can be done to protect children from various things, and none of them include censorship laws -- this is just an 'acceptable' front for what is really an attempt to make it easier to make people see only the things the government wants, imo. unfortunately its reaching a point where im even side eyeing petitions going around for it because they're starting to feel more like name honeypots than any actual possibility at being heard, but I hope I'm wrong in that regard. it's been terrifying to see the slide into worldwide conservatism in real time though

I definitely agree unfortunately :[ but i think if bluesky folds it'll be to limit adult content, but with fA it'll need an ID to access the site at all, so I'm hoping I can at least use it to post updates for whatever other site I manage to find
