Last Week Was a Bust
Well, last week was a bust.
To be fair, one of our cars failed and needs a new transmission. As a result, my husband needs to take my car to and from work.
Over an extra hour each day has been dedicated to walking: My house, to the kids' house, to their school, and back to my house. And the reverse trip again in the afternoon and evening.
The level of exhaustion and soreness I experienced was unpleasant to say the least! I got pretty severe heat rash towards the end of it due to high temperatures and even higher humidity! O.O
But I got a bike over the weekend. This has cut my commute in half and uses a different group of muscles. I bike 2/3rds of the way and walk the remaining 1/3. I'm getting stronger every day and am no longer quite so physically taxed.
I hate exercise and I hate even more the fact that I need to do it for my stupid mental health lol
Speaking of mental health, I'm starting to feel a little better.
I had my second appointment with my new doctor and she just flat out asked me "You're tired all the time- why aren't you on a stimulant for ADHD?"
So......I finally got a prescription for a medication that I've needed for my entire life approved. I should have it in hand later this evening.
I'm rather excited that even when I wake up feeling exhausted after 8-10 hours of sleep, I'll have more than just caffeine to try and keep me awake.
I've been told my whole life that I'm lazy and that this was a personal failure. I feel relieved and vindicated.
I've got a big trip coming up over the weekend (12 hours of driving by myself, ugh) so it's hard to say how next week will go in regards to focus, but I have good, yet reasonable, expectations. I'll try to get back to everyone soon. I do apologize again for my lack of uploads and appreciate your patience while I get some of this nonsense figured out. :)
As always, take care! Thanks for sticking around!

I'm still behind and getting caught up best I can. Hope things are going alright for you!
Hope you're doing well too! <3
It wasn't quite the same as a panic attack, there isn't the full "fight-or-flight", but things were very heightened. I have a high-resting heart rate, so that was a way I really noticed things (even with the medication I have for it).
It's not like this for everyone, but given you're also more anxiety prone I thought I'd warn of the possibility.
I know you want to start right away, but I think this is something you and the mate should properly plan for. For example, I'd be wary of more intense exercise for the first 1-3 days, as you won't know how it'll effect you by default. So it's better to be cautious and not need it, than need it and have things go not fun.
If you can, drive them, and if the car is still out of commission perhaps ask a friend or parent of one of the kids' friend, maybe offer carpooling in return once the car is available.
A warning aswell, the extended release medication caused me massive insomnia (something I already struggled with).
It caused 0 issues for my husband though, so, again, it depends, and is meant as a "best aware"
If you haven't, ask your doctor about a sleep study! They're super easy now and can be done at home.
As there are many things that factor into poor sleep, ADHD doesn't help, but there's frequently comorbidities at play (sleep apnea is ridiculously common!)
You can see if the stimulant alone helps, it's meant more for awareness and such (as many, I was hit by a ton of bricks starting my first stimulant treatment)
That said, there was one day where I was having some weird physical symptoms and I think it was brought on by a combo of the new medicine, exercise, and a little more caffeine than I was accustomed to lol. It wasn't too bad but I was definitely "out of it" until it started wearing off in the evening. I'm a bit more careful with caffeine now. :)
My main issue currently stems from needing to develop new coping mechanisms for the executive dysfunction lol. There's nothing more interesting than whatever task I'm currently on/whatever's in front of my face haha~ My old methods are NOT working lmao
If I'm doing what I need to do, that's great! If I accidentally left my game running from the night before, I'm doomed lol (but I'm getting better about it ^^ )
Anywho, I just wanted to say thank you and that I hope you're doing well! I do apologize that I've not been around much over the last couple months and wanted to assure ya that it's all on my end while I get myself sorted. <3
Good luck with the medication and on your trip! Enjoy the bike!
At this point, I don't think it's worth it for /us/ to replace it, but someone else may find the value there haha. We're likely gonna try and sell it online as-is, with a disclosure of course. :)
Thanks so much! Everything's been going fairly well, even if my general depression doesn't want to cooperate lol
If you use Facedesk, Marketplace usually has shadetree mechanics looking for a project. But cash only, and copy / photograph the bill of sale and their license before they leave with it.
Tell the depression to play with crayons.
(The battery was replaced recently, but it seems like it's also having alternator issues.)
I know that we have more cars than average with a family as large as ours, but I think we're also having more problems than average too lol
I'm just thankful that everyone still has the means to get to work. Two of my partners work in a factory and they're not very forgiving when it comes to being late or having unexpected days off.
Dang, I'm sorry to hear that you're also having a myriad of problems pile up like that! The fuel pump is quite pricey. D=
Hopefully you can get all of that sorted out soon, but it's good that you have a back-up in the meanwhile!
That's sorta the idea! We were discussing it at dinner last night and I think we're gonna try the good ol' marker on the window for a bit first since none of us are avid Facebook users (or care to take pictures/write up a post lol.)
But yeah, def cash only! I wouldn't trust digital payment methods for this kind of sale and I don't even remember the last time I've deposited a physical check lol
Haha, I've been trying! I can't even get myself to play video games lately, so maybe I do need to bring out something different to play with in my free time. :P
Check / clean the battery connections first. But if it starts after fully charged, and is later dead, it's likely the alternator.
Thank you. I hope so too, but money for the mechanic is not plentiful. One at a time. The fuel pump one requires a tank drop, unfortunately. Not a trunk access job.
I forgot about shoe polish / glass markers, heh. I still use checks for bills. X3
You could...play with action figures! =D
