Mika - Old Story {2016?}
Old unfinished story from my DA that I’m reposting on here to archive it. I wrote this about my experiences on therianthropy, in a fictional way. It’s very much a self-insert ahah. But I was going through alot.
The therian community was always so supportive of me especially back then, and so I really am thankful for them.
A quick trigger warning as well, some ideation is mentioned in this. If you’re struggling, you’re not alone and please seek help for your mental health. As someone who went through a lot too, life is fucking hard but you deserve to be alive and to live a full life no matter what you are going through or how you may think of yourself. Ofc I don’t know you but everyone deserves to live a life. Please seek help if you’re struggling, there are many resources out there both to help you irl and online. Be safe and take care of yourself <3
Anyways enjoy the angst! XD
Chapter One
I walked through the forest, with my hood tightly over my head and my clip-on tail attached to my jeans. I watched the rain sprinkle on the ground as my boots squished the mud beneath my feet.
I heard a faint wolf howl in the forest, and I sighed as I looked down at my human self. As I walked further into the woods, the light got darker and darker until it was so faint I could barely see. I felt my body sting and blood dripped from my mouth as I walked further and further, and I felt weak. My legs fell under me and I felt my body shake. My shaking slowed and my breath heavied. As my eyesight blurred, a black wolf walked up to me and stared down at my corpse. She was about to react when--
"Mika! I asked you to put number three on the board."
"H-huh?" I shook my head, clearing my vision. I heard giggling from around the room.
"Put the homework problem on the board. Now." My teacher said sternly and handed me the whiteboard marker. I took it and stood up, revealing my black tail on my belt loop. I walked up to the board and pulled off the marker cap. I heard more giggling and some whispering as I began to write the problem on the board. I didn't know what to do so I guessed. As I took my seat, the teacher frowned at my answer. "Mika, did you do your homework?"
I shook my head with my eyes to the floor.
"Why did you not do it?" She demanded.
"I didn't understand the work." I said quietly.
"That is no excuse for not completing your work. You can get help."
I knew I couldn't get help so I shrugged and stared at my feet.
"Sit down." She ordered.
I obeyed and stared at the unfinished work on my paper. I picked up my pencil and began doodling on my homework. I stared up at the clock. It read 2:52. Three minutes until the final bell rang. I sighed as I packed up my books and notebooks. The bell rung through my ears and my phantom ears fell back as I pulled my hood over my head and left the room with the others. I walked outside in the snow and got on my school bus, sitting down in the very back.
As I listened to whispering and giggling around me, I took my iPod out of my pocket. They were wrapped in my blue earbuds. I unwrapped the iPod and stuck the buds in my human ears. I stared out of the window and watched the happy children at the elementary school skip across the sidewalk, talking to their friends. I closed my eyes and listened to music as the bus drove over the rocky gravel.
"Mika! Where are you?" A faint voice yells through the forest.
Leaves crunched under my feet as I continued walking. I ignored the voice I knew oh too well.
"Mika!!" The voice became more faint as I walked further into the woods.
I felt tears in my eyes but I kept walking. The cliff was just up ahead. Snow flew into my face and it was so cold it stung. I reached the top of the mountain and stared at the empty abyss below me.
"This is it." I sighed, looking back towards the forest behind me. "I can't wait any longer."
Just as the voice was about to reach me, I leaned forward and let myself fall into the abyss-"
"Hey, doggie! Woof for us, doggie!"
A group of immature middle school boys mocked me by acting like dogs. They howled and pretended to wag a tail, pointing at my collar and tail and laughing. "You should go back to where you came from, the pound!"
I turned my head away from them and closed my eyes as a silent tear fell down my cheek.
The bus slowed to my street and stopped, and the bus driver pulled the door open. I stood and grabbed my bag, hurrying to the door to prevent hearing any additional mocking. The bus driver glared at me menacingly and nodded at the door. I stepped down and walked towards a dirt path. This path didn't lead to my house, but to the place I felt most comfortable at, the woods. I sat down on the ground and threw my bag on the dirt, burying my face in my hands. I sat there and wept.
