You know, it's funny, but now that you call my attention to it...I know the term, but I never say vulva, even when referring to myself. Not only does it feel a bit like referring to a penis as a "glans", it's also just...not a pleasant word to say, as odd as that might sound. :D

I feel Vagina isn't a pleasant word to say , and if I say Vulva in RP or something like that I get digitally stared at like I said something in latin. So as much and I don't like the word Pussy, I'd prefer people call it that than call it Vagina when talking about the whole thing.... this is also why you'll hear me call it slit or something like that...

I was going to chime in to suggest the feline word as an alternative for the whole arrangement, but that was forestalled by the above. ^.^;

Communication is definitely weird, especially when bringing in official terms and slang both. I mean, I can imagine an erotic story scene using only clinical terms. Especially the less common ones, like 'perineum'.

Then all the variations on slang and their impact. The feline terms is considered soft by a lot of people, but others take the insult version to heart. Start with a 'c' and end with a 't' and most people find it offensive and it even becomes an insult. But change the 't' to 'ny' and suddenly it's cute to some people? Whaaa? Then 'lips' and 'slit' and 'folds' and 'crevasse' and 'canyon' and such are mostly considered soft. 'Valley of desire' gets a bit too flowery.

Weird that two of the common slang terms for female parts are also considered insults and hard cursing, while there really isn't any slang for male anatomy that has the same impact. Worse, one is 'just a rooster' and the other is 'just Richard's shortened name'.

Words are weird.

But yeah, 'think of the children!' means that a lot of kids never learn things before it's too late. Or learn things from porn videos, which causes a lot of tropes to enter the mainstream and reinforce themselves.

I 100% blame people learning from Porn as to why so many people either have or pretend to have an obsession with huge breasts and dicks and think 8in long dongs are the average... or Even worse that race actually has a factor on size. Because porn reinforces that stereotype hardcore.

Yep. Average range is 4.5 to 5.2 inches long when not self-reported. But in furry art, the average is 13.7 inches.

Just for the record, I personally don't find the word c--t offensive (in fact I kind of like it), but I know many people do. I actually enjoy many of the sillier slang terms too.

I say "pussy" 90-95% of the time. My language choices usually revolve around which word rolls off the tongue easier. When I say "vulva" I feel like I need to trade it in for getting bad mileage. XD

I think in general people are best off using whatever terms they're most comfortable with.

In my 11th grade health glass we had to label diagrams of the penis and vagina. There was like 3 items we had to label for the vagina (ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus), and like a dozen for the penis. We had a few kids (almost adults) who didn't know the term was vagina, not pussy. Pretty good example of what's wrong.

Yeah , I was fighting my Health class teachers to not being lazy with teaching. I felt like I was the only Student that actually wanted to learn about our bodies. I had to learn a lot of the anatomy from books in the Library because the stuff the school was giving us was too cartoony. Sex Ed. is seriously important and it upsets me how little the school system and most parents care about it.

Conservative area, it's a shitshow where I live. We had girls get suspended (one of them being my friend LOL) for showing boys the menstruation pamphlets we received. Girls weren't allowed to learn about tampons, because parents didn't want their daughters losing their virginity (my father was one of them). One of the women who was huge opponent against sex-ed, was the mother of my sister's then childhood best friend. We had to pick my sister up from a slumber party because she didn't want her daughter catching my sister's period. I wished I was joking. I think she made my sister clean up the bathroom while the daughter stood outside in the yard. She screamed at my sister and called my mother screaming, I heard in the next room. My mom could not get her to calm down.
One of kids who didn't know the technical term was vagina passed away this year. That was the kid's legacy, The Vagina Boy. Twenty years later, he was still known for that.

Ugh that sucks ... my parents took a very easy approach to teaching me and my brother. Religion and their own Values be damned, if the boys ask about something , they are ready to learn about it, get books from the Library... they may not need to know all the deep details but they should know how things work. I corrected a girl in kindergarten that said the stork was bringing her family a little sister. I said no, she is growing in your Mom's belly , She freaked out and yelled at the teacher saying I said her Mom ate her sister. I corrected again saying that I said Belly , not stomach. Teacher calls my Mom and my Mom asked " Is Ed lying? Is he wrong? No? than don't you dare punish him for sharing what he's learned and don't you dare call me again unless he is in 'REAL' trouble and not this ignorant bullshit" (paraphrased)
It felt weird getting to 7th grade health class and finding out there were 11 - 12 year olds JUST NOW finding out the stork and cabbage patch aren't where babies come from... I was actually pissed off that any of their parents would go this long lying to their kids.

in my opinion you just gotta view it as slang, or short hand. as if calling a butt an ass, even though I think ass usually refers to the internals? language is weird though, and it evolves over time away from the dictionary definition lol

Well my Peeve is compounded because I hate the word vagina... so sadly that doesn't help much lol
