Missing cat...Found.

The often unusual musings of an old cat
Had quite a scare yesterday. Got up for the day, saw no signs of Callie who usually crawls over me in the morning to get me up. One of the first matters of the day is the first distribution of treats. Fireball sometimes saunters in slowly, Callie is always on top of it. She wasn't. Went through the house, top to bottom, checked the usual spots, checked spots that were ridiculous. No cat. Went outside and called for her. No response. Mom gets up and basically repeats everything I've done, same results.
I still made breakfast, she had greeter duty at church. Before she left I checked the engines of both vehicles, walked to the road and looked for signs of a body, luckily, none seen. walked the yard calling out to her. No answers. Before going back inside I got inspiration. Cleo Catra, her mom and her used to live in the wood pile. We still have one. I peeked into the gap between the wood and the house. Found her.
She was still unresponsive, looked right at me like she didn't know me. She was so scared she was (wish there was a better word) practically catatonic. I managed to coax her along with the rake handle until she was where I could grab her. She hates being picked up, often cries out like a murder is happening. No response. Brought her back in, Mom was relieved, Set her down and she wandered like she was lost. Then inspiration struck and she bolted down the hall to the spare room and crawled under the bed, one of her safe spaces.
A few hours later she was mostly back to herself and by bedtime she was right as rain. I hate she went through that, but I'm happy to have her back.
