I blame the rise of Social Media eroding the boundaries that used to exist in smaller communities.

You joined a bbs/newsgroup/forum for an interest, or a specific IRC channel for chat.
If you didn't want to interact with it, you didn't join it. If you joined it to complain about it existing the moderators ejected you with gusto.

Social media is a firehose to the world with no specific gates, checks or boundaries. You see everything and curating a specific timeline is nearly impossible on certain platforms.

This saw the rise of things like "Don't be horny on main" causing AD accounts to be a thing, up to the modern discourse of "Things I find icky should be banned so I don't have to see them."

It's a terrible state of affairs for the internet to be in as everyone chases visibility and "number go up" on large, under-moderated public platforms.

Combined with people being raised to still act like children into their 20's? It's a perfect storm.

It's fiction. The point of fiction / fantasy is to be able to explore and enjoy subjects and scenarios that should not or cannot be explored/enjoyed in real life. Fantasy should not be constrained reality.

People really do need to be able to tell the difference Fiction and Reality, it should not be that hard.

It's just so frustrating when you've lived through the early internet days where furries, just normal furries (even with human genitals. Even SFW) were seen as disgusting pieces of art. People use to say that even SFW furries were zoophiles by it's very nature.

Considering that the inability to differentiate reality and fiction literally is a documented, classified mental illness, I have no issues telling that to those peoples' faces.

Funny thing is that I spent most of the last hour ranting aloud about all the reasons it came to this, starting with the irony that with each generation since WW2 getting looser freer and more kinky that this new generation has boomeranged back to "greatest generation" or earlier levels of prudishness possibly as their own form of counter-culture. Part of my conclusion is that millennial furries grew up with a burgeoning internet that gradually exposed us to more and more out there art ideas until we grew comfortable with them, while the zoomers have been dumped into an ocean of ideas and are too overwhelmed to process it all and run to parents too overworked by economic inflation to be able to spend the time needed to help them through it and then pass it off to religious Zealots and other prudes too easily accessed through social media who are all too happy to stir the followers who no longer have to be in physical reach to hear them. This happened because cultural change is too close together with each new generation entering a vastly different world than their parents. Whereas before in the middle ages or industrial revolution most children could expect to have the exact same lives as their parents and grand parents, now everything changes too fast and frequent to properly adapt as a society.

Religious crazy prudes and fascists are only part of the problem, the spark that lights the ample kindling left by the generational overlap that started with the baby boomers. Sadly, with the cost of living only getting worse, there's less and less time to give children the support they need to ease into these changes which is now blowing up all over the internet

I think they say this because they want to push their world-views onto others and their way of thinking, that these things turn people into that which is not the case at all. Yeah agreed. It should honestly be super easy to distinguish fiction from reality, and yet they seem incapable of doing so. I think something that could have a part to play in these sorts or radical views are indoctrinations, how they were raised, , narratives being given or told, or just a very narrow mind and view on things, could be multiple factors that defies logic too, if you get what i am trying to say.

Was just thinking of older times when people could just make whatever they wanted, whatever their fetish was, what ever scenes they wanted and details in it, etcetera. At least that's how i last remember it was like, i could be wrong. But have it with the modern tags system in place, so that if there was something someone did not like or was not into they could just press the tag and would thus be able to see it pop up not be bothered by it. Like there are things here i don't like to see, like let's say scat, vore, snuff, or such stuff, but that does not mean i want it removed or banned or anything like that, i can just have it so that it's not visible to me as long as it's properly tagged and such is what i am trying to say.

DNI is one of the worst things that ever happened to the communities, people just outwardly using it as an excuse to show their hatred to the world.
It would be fine if people actually used it properly and just stayed away from interests they don't like, but they use it as a way to attack those interests. For example I've seen both people who DNI Zoo art and Incest that then send me a friend request here or IB, and then get pissy when they see that art.
And it's like, if you DNI that shit why are you coming into my page and friend accepting me when I blatantly have that on display on my gallery?
They used to have the excuse when FA didn't have a blacklisting system but now there is literally no reason for these kinds of people to attack others for their interests. You can literally just make it go away and never see it again (so long as proper tags are used)...
