There is the general term for bugs and the entomology term for bugs. General term can mean anything from insects to crustaceans to arachnids, its really subjective. In entomology “bug” is strictly used to refer to an order of insects called true bugs or “hemiptera”. Hope that helps ^^
orchid mantis, orbweaver, forktail damselfly. i see the last two almost daily and i got the chance to feed the first one honey from the tip of a toothpick once. her name was angel
In no particular order
Cockchafer (They're so soft and fuzzy....)
Moths, particularly the deaths head hawkmoth (The squeaks....)
Goliath Beetle, Big and best friend shaped
-Fireflies. I've seen a few around for the first time since I was little, it always feels special seeing them.
-Dragonflies. They're pretty neat, I've seen some really big ones this year.
-Japanese beetles. I'm not a fan exactly, but I can respect their ability to hit the only uncovered bit of skin on my body, between my helmet and goggles, when I'm riding on the highway.
I love me a bug I can just watch go about its business for ages and not get bored with.
On that note:
Any parisitoid wasp. They’re so busy, always up to SOMETHING, and surprisingly harmless most of the time.
Jumping spiders! They’re so busy, just LOOK adorable and the 3-dimensionality of their movements means I can just watch it making its way up a tree and be satisfied with life.
Mantis of any kind! Similarly busy, its kinda therapeutic just watching them clean up their front feet, and the little black dot makes them look like they’re always watching you~
