Nah, Bluesky had a few huge growths early on from some political things and that short period Brazil was banned from Twitter, but after that, nothing, the site's hovered at or below 1% of Twitter's userbase and it's going down, not up.

It definitely doesn't help, and I'm sure a good chunk of twitter is bots.

But according the charts posted, Bsky's userbase only had my state's beaten for about 7 months before it fell back below. The steady downflow in users isn't exactly hopeful for a social media site.

The problem is that its the only way to keep your numbers looking good. Bsky peaked nearly a year ago and its numbers keep declining, twitter can at least obfuscate that without hiding the numbers by reusing dead accounts

As of almost three years ago, they've essentially said to the world that it's completely okay to steal from their userbase. Scams and stolen art are the only things you will ever see there now, and the site is also allowing people to sell AI generated pictures and stolen works without any consequences whatsoever.

The instant I found out what they'd done, I shut down my account there, and I was one of thousands of people to do so. Not only has DA committed the cardinal sin of betraying their userbase - they've also broken the law. Even the news articles about what has happened to it have not got them to care one bit about what's left of their userbase or what they've done to them.

To be fair, these sites tend to come and go pretty often, like I was one of the people that got in on Pillowfort back when people swore it'd be "Tumblr but better" and that site shat the bed pretty quick, haha.
It's always a "hey, you're mad about [website]? Try ours!" and then the whole thing collapses in under a year as it's either a rugpull, or they got too big too fast and went bankrupt, or they were woefully unprepared for more than like 500 users and the whole site struggles for so long everyone just leaves.

Yeah, dA's consistently been a total mess after being bought out by Wix all those years ago, and even though I like AI, the site's getting smothered by every teen on the internet just prompting 999999999 raw C-tier AI images of distorted waifus with no quality control, an endless tidal wave of slop.
Also, even ignoring the AI nuclear bomb, dA's UI in general got way worse after Wix forced them to rebuild the whole site IN Wix.

Bluesky is batshit insane and genuinely worse than Twitter for posting art.

I use dA solely for uploads. I stopped browsing there for years since the Watch tab has made looking through uploads trash. You have to go to someone's gallery directly if you want a decent browsing experience.

FA is the only place to actually keep up with artists and their galleries, despite the full size upload crunch.

I got the vibe that posting art was about all it's really good for, otherwise it's largely an echo chamber where Twitter freaks go for a few weeks when they quit Twitter for good before returning to Twitter.

Well when you click on someone's Media tab there, it shows all their comments that doesn't have image/video uploads, too! It is pointless.

Inconsistent art labeling was my beef. Stuff that was PG was being labeled as "Adult" by the administration. And stuff that I was being safe and labeled "Suggestive" was being told "does not include nudity" by the same administration. So, fuck it, I say. It's not a good art site, anyway.
