🌐 What the heck is a webring? Webring project? 🌐
a day ago
Webrings used to be a collection of websites that you could surf in a circle. Many of them had directories so you could see the collection of websites the ring had. Its an oldschool way of doing websites. And I wanted to pay tributes to the old internet.
Thus, I made a webring.

I would love to eventually fill this webring with a lot of useful links and pages. And possibly get some people in on it. Thus making an old school collection of websites for the community and for my fans. The goal is just to help people find places, such as discord groups and telegram groups, but also artist pages and the like. But perhaps I could also fill it up with store fronts and the like as well, or who knows what. The sky is the limit.
The internet used to be the wild west. I wanna be nostalgic for those days.
Keep in mind, this is completely new. I am going to constantly update it with things I find interesting.
Thus, I made a webring.

This looks super cool! If I knew anything about HTML I'd get in on it, too! Does each person in the ring have to pay for a domain and host a server and all of that, or just the one who started the ring?

OP
I might let people send me stuff and I can host it. Just kinda depends on what it is.

I do miss web rings. The internet these days feels like 95% facebook, twitter, and youtube, and sometimes it's hard to find smaller niche pages.
