My favourites are never hidden, also I'm usually active.

I just skim the front page every time I come here, there is the occasional gem. Became a lot more tolerable with blacklist lmao

When I want to find new artists I'll usually peruse the main gallery with a quick visual scan. When a style appeals to me then I'll try to find who created it. Yes, you have to wade through a flood of "other stuff" but it does result in finding some true gems. Also too I will check artists I watch who have a similar style then check their favorites gallery. I haven't come across empty favorite galleries though, I wonder what that's about. Maybe they added a setting to FA so you can hide them.

Hmm...I looked at the settings and people can hide favorites or block their favorites from "guests" or those not signed in. It's curious.

Sorry, last reply. I went through the main submission gallery for the website and picked 48 random users and looked at their gallery. 12 of them had an empty favorites gallery so I get the feeling there are just people out there that never bother setting art they like as favorites, not sure what's up with that.

The majority of the time for me, it's usually via links in the description of an art piece:

- if the art piece was by an artist that's not the owner of the account that posted it, such as a commission or gift, there might be a link to the artist.

- or conversely if the art piece was created by the owner of the account that posted it and it's for a different user, there might be a link to that user.

So, you might see an art piece you like that may link to other users with art you might like. And the user that posted that art piece might also have other art pieces in their gallery that also might have links to other users with art you like. You can then start following these links and continue to find more accounts with art you like and continue this recursive pattern until you either want to stop (or hit a dead end, an account with no links to other accounts to further search although it's rare that happens).

So um ya, hopefully that all makes sens and you do need to get lucky and happen upon an initial "seed" art piece you like to start this.

Also Telegram groups or posts on other sites might link back to accounts here. If I see an artist I like on say, Bluesky, I always check their bio or for a post that has links to their other accounts and/or linktree/carrd.

The above 2 things are probably the main ways I discover find accounts with art I like on here and on most sites.

Also every millennia something might rarely pop up on front page/feed.

Sometimes a random lucky Google search links me to a random art piece that was posted eons ago.

I search FA for the few silly interests I have. Occasionally a new artist pops up that has drawn something in my niche interests and if I like their content and style enough. I'm adding them to my watch pile. :>

Also, my favs are still open. I don't see the point in hiding what I like when you can find it either via the uploads or FA. xD
