Note on Reporting People
Hey all,
Just a quick comment about reporting people who have violated FA’s policies:
Don’t do it. At least, not initially. Reach out to the alleged offender and let them know their content seems to violate the site’s terms and conditions. Give them the opportunity to revise/correct their work before raising the alarm. We don’t want FA to turn into a police state, with everyone turning everyone in due to some perceived offense. Most of the time, offenders of FA’s policies don’t realize they’ve done so. Give them to chance to adjust their content before telling FA’s moderators on them and having their work pulled for some obscure and confusing reason.
Also, just don’t be a tattle-tale. No one likes a tattle-tale. They’re usually self-righteous and insecure. So don’t be that person.
Best,
J

Also, what you're suggesting can get people reported for impersonating a moderator on here. Ask me how I know.
You either report someone and wait sometimes uo to two years for a response, with the moderator citing this as a "volunteer position " as an excuse, or you get nothing at times.
Still; better to report and move on.
You'd like to think that it isn't, but I've been reported before for precisely what you're asking.
So I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about.
"If the viewer can bear the responsibility of reporting"
That's like saying
"If the person sees someone getting mugged, and they try to help, they can bear the responsibility of trying to explain to the mugger why what they're doing is wrong instead of calling the police."
What I’m saying: if you come across someone’s content that seems to violate the site’s terms and conditions, it’s courteous and the more honorable path to reach out to that user directly and say, “Hey, just FYI…”. If that user doesn’t bother to change their content, and if it’s still that important to you, then sure, you can report them. But most of the time, violations of site policy are an accident or an oversight. I think people would appreciate a kind, neighborly heads up rather than FA pulling their content, issuing warnings, and citing vague and unclear reasons why the user’s content violated a site policy.
I've done that before (Hey, just FYI), and that's fair. I don't do it all the time, though. There's been way too much pushback on it, so that option is off the table for me. Neither result has provided a satisfactory solution, but depending on the impulse and mood, that can change.
