Learning digital drawing hasn't been going well.
There's no place to comfortably set up my pen tablet + computer, at least not in a way to get at both easily. So practicing itself is nearly impossible.
Getting a proper drawing tablet might not be out of the question, considering Christmas* is coming. But I'm worried about High Lord Douchebag's wrecking of the economy and the cost of electronics. My family isn't poor, but we're trying to keep expenses down.
Meanwhile, Krita is too overwhelming for me. IDK where to even start with it.
Plus I'm also in the process of learning Ruby programming, which comes with its own set of obstacles.
This sucks.
*Sorry for mentioning the "C" holiday early.

Also, if you just want something handheld that isn't too expensive, I grabbed an iPad and Procreate with an Apple Pencil for something like $400 total, and especially with Amazon's payment plans, it was doable for me to pick up. Procreate is also a very barebones and simple application, with a lot of potential as well.
If you want suggestions on model, lemme know. I grabbed the "Apple iPad 11-inch: A16 chip, 11-inch Model, Liquid Retina Display, 128GB, Wi-Fi 6, 12MP Front/12MP Back Camera, Touch ID, All-Day Battery Life" on Amazon, which is $284 used right now.
you could also grab this knock off brand pencil stylus for $14, instead of an apple brand one for $60+: Metapen Pencil A8 for Apple iPad 2018-2025, (2X Faster Charge), Tilt Sensitivity, Pixel Precision, Stylus Pen for iPad 11/10/9/8/7/6th Gen, Pro 12.9/11/13-inch M4, Air 3/4/5/M2/M3, Mini 5/6th, White
I also use it for youtube in bed, surfing the web, reading ebooks/comics, and all sorts of stuff. Just an option. Don't wanna overwhelm you though.
I know stuff is expensive.
Had you considered Photoshop CS2? It works in windows 10/11 and it's a small soap opera but Adobe left it in Abandonware.
...But I don't use Windows.
