In an effort to cater to his evangelical Christian and Christian nationalist base, Trump has recently said
“The U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, 'guns-a-blazing'…If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!” he wrote. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth responded to the post, writing, quote, “Yes sir,”
He also said
"They’re killing record numbers of Christians in Nigeria. And they have other countries very bad also. You know that. That part of the world, very bad. They’re killing the Christians and killing them in very large numbers. We’re not going to allow that to happen."
This is an absolute lie. In actuality Boko Haram has killed more Muslims in Nigeria than Christians.
What Boko Haram actually wants is control of land, regardless of who happens to be on it.
This only goes to show how little regard that Trump holds for Muslims and these "Shithole countries". The president of Nigeria is also a Muslim, who also happens to have a Christian wife.
And this is all happening while Trump hzs cut the number of refugees to be admitted to ther US next year from 125,000 to 7500, most of whom will be supposedly persecuted white South African Christians.
It's also worthy of note that similar to the way that Venezuela has the largest oilfields on the planet, Nigeria has the largest oilfield in Africa.

Not to mention, I wouldn’t put it past Trump to rally for deportation of people who are of Nigerian descent if it does happen. His supporters would definitely back that idea, but I would hope he himself is not stupid enough to-

And you're also right about Nigeria not being particulary powerful militarily. Despite having the largest population of any state in Africa, they're not especially well armed. In fact when this came up, they said thatb they could handle this themselves, but said that they would welcome more arms from the US, if Drumpf really wanted to help.
He's already deporting Nigerians. He'll deport anyone black or brown that he can, remember?
This was also done for the benefit of that particular segment of his base.
It's not as though we really had any choice. Drumpf forced us into it.
